Well as a never-smoker I'd say sure, try 0 nic and probably sooner rather than later so that you can objectively evaluate without some sort of dependence. With that said, my kiddo (20) vaped after smoking a while, quit vaping altogether and a few months later asked me to mix him some 0 nic juices (and I had a setup I had won that suited him and his vaping style) as he was getting bored/antsy when friends were around and liked the idea of just vaping 0 nic with his friends to have something to do.
Dependency on nic (even if slight) is likely to be far less of a dependency than cigarettes, so if you substitute 0 nic, probably give it a few days for any w/d (if there is any) to fade (it's really more like giving up coffee, somewhat uncomfortable but not earth shattering) before you decide on some nic vs 0 nic. My son, even as a former smoker, found giving up vaping nic to be far easier than giving up cigarettes.
8 ml for a sub0hm vaper doesn't sound like a huge amount to me. If you are vaping clouds, juice consumption will rise, and that's fairly normal. You may find if you switch to 0 nic it may rise for a bit, then fall, depending on how you react to 0 nic, so be prepared for that possibility.
Since you are already vaping and have friends surrounding you who smoke, I'm not going to provide a big lecture on how you could do other things. 0 nic will reduce your risks from nicotine (there are some, as well as some benefits) but if you've functioned fine without nic, I see no reason to deliberately develop a dependence on it. I will merely point out that vaping (even flavors) probably is less healthful than not vaping at all, but certainly probably less risky than vaping nicotine, and certainly less risky than smoking. So, if this is something you enjoy, making it as safe as possible is a good bet....
Welcome to ECF, finally there is no "drug" talk here, it's one of the site rules.... I didn't know that either when I started, so I usually just mention it. It's not a big deal, unless it becomes like a continuous thing, but take care of those lungs as best you can, and welcome to ECF.
