Truckin' across America
Hello, I'm Kris! I'm a truck driver and just made the cold turkey switch from analogs to vaping a week ago while I was on hometime. I am loving it and not even looking back. Before, I was smoking 1-2 packs a day. I had tried Blu e-cigs as I was able to get a starter kit in a truck stop and all the big truc stops are now selling the cartriges for it, but I just wasnt satisfied with the Blu and kept going back to analogs. Last week at one of my local shops I got an eGo-C twist and a couple clearos and juices. The day after I got my PV setup, my mum was interested and I took her down to the shop and she has started vaping too and is weaning off of analogs. I was always a picky smoker. Windows always had to be down and I never smoked in the sleeper to minimize the smell in the truck. Now I have the joy of laying n bed and vaping while pkaying Playstation or watching tv. And my truck doesnt reek! As I travel, I am scouting for places to buy juice on the road that are within walking distance of a truck stop or other truck parking. Or even places that I could window shop online and who would meet me at a truck stop for an extra fee. Ordering online isnt the most practical since I am gone 4-8 weeks at a time. But already when I go home next I shoukd have several new tanks, another twist, and several bottles of juices waiting. In one week of vaping, my smokers' cough is gone!

Congratulations Kris, I am glad that you have joined us. I know a few shops but not ones that have Truck friendly parking. I would try to stock up every time you are home and check your route ahead of time to see if there is any on the way. If you are ever in my neck of the woods I will show you my local shops

Well, Window Shop at Lucky's Vapor Store in Texarkana, TX (They have a website), then when you get through here, exit Richmond RD off I-30, go south then, left into the mall parking lot - Lucky's is across the street at the back of the mall and, the mall doesn't mind having trucks parked there. There is also an Arby's, McDonalds and, Firehouse subs in easy walking distance there, so good place for that 30 min. break. :)

And the juice there is mixed to order and, tastes good right off the bat, plus they offer tasting so you can try before you buy, then there is the mall for whatever else that old truck might think it wants (or the gift you probably should bring home to your mum. :p )

Oh and, if you vape candy or dessert flavors, might want a lock for the cooler before you put the rig in the shop - the smell in your cab will tend to make mechanics hungry. LOL.

Hi Kris, welcome to the forum and congratulations on making the switch! Here's a link to a site you could check before you start a run, to see if there are local vape shops on your route: Electric Cigarette|Eliquid|Supplies|Electronic Cigarette|Ejuice|Smokeless|Vapor Search USA

Also, ECf is putting together a list of local B&M's (brick and mortar shops). See here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ortar-directory-please-submit-store-info.html

The directory should be coming out ?shortly? This may also help you. And when you know your route, by all means ask here about local shops; we have members from *everywhere* and folks are happy to praise their favorites!

Happy vaping! :vapor:

Thanks guys! I am tending to lean on fruity and dessert flavors. Hubby is placing an order on the computer today for a couple juices Im looking forward to trying. But my intention is to stockpile on hometime and not have to rely on finding truck accessible vape shops. Ive scouted out a few for future reference though. I tend to stay east of the Rockies. My current run will be the first time to California ((if they ever get the trailer loaded! Ugh)). I only found out about my local shop through a chain of word f mouth recommendation. Hubby had stopped to buy me a disposable Blu while I was home because I was out of analogs and m Blus were uncharged. The guy in the gas station told hubby about ecigsupply.com and a couple days later hubby mentiond that site to a friend at work and that guy told us about the shop in town. Soooo glad I went! I was able to taste the juices before buying and am happy with the bottles I currently have. :)

It would be cool if you started a group here for "on the road" vapers.

There are social groups allowed to be created, you should ask the mods.

Besides truckers, there are also many full time RVers on the ECF forum. I think a group like this would be great

Talyon, its pretty neat what comforts we have in the trucks nowadays. I have an APU ((a generator of sorts)) that keeps my truck batteries charged and powers my climate cntrol unit so I dont have to idle the truck to stay comfortable. 2500w power inverter, refrigerator, 23" flatscreen, playstation, and a slew of cooking appliances so I can make everything from pot roast t spaghetti or steak. A microwave too, haha. Its a brand new 2014 Kenworth T680 and Im quite proud of her.

Don't know if you get up into the Chi-Town area often, but GoodeJuice is pretty much right off exit 122 on I-80. There's a Pilot Truck Stop off the exit and if you go south on Ridge Road (exit 122) to Mondamin Road and turn east, then go to Wabena and turn south, go over the tracks and GoodeJuice is on the right in that small shopping center. If you use Google Maps you'll see their building (it has a grey metal roof) is just south of all the grain silos.

Oh boy first run to Shaky, well mind the coops and keep your ducks in a row - they can be bad news out there. Whic end you going in, Truckee, Banning or Barstow? Barstow (I-40 - I-15) is the easiest on the coops, Banning (I-10) the worst. Truckee (I-80) is hit and miss depending on their mood.

Good idea to stock up at home, not many vape shops are tuck accessible but, there are a few, like the one I mention earlier.

Kepp the shiny side up, keep those wheels rolling and, vape on. :vapor:

I will be bookmarking the B&M listing. I get through Chitown from time to time, but I dont like delivering there. Just truck on through. As far as Cali, Im coming down through Barstow. Kinda glad Im not gonna roll through Banning because Ive heard they are inspection-happy beasts. My equipment is in good shape, but nobody likes it when they break out the creeper and the fine-toothed comb lol.

Hi Kris welcome to ECF..I'm a driver too (21yrs) I got into this vaping thing 2 yrs 11 months ago I learned to always have backups for your backups once I found a flavor I liked I stuck with it its too expensive to have a whole bunch of different flavors to try and also have enough to last till I got home again. Now I know how much juice I use a month when I get low I place a order .. just a tip from a fellow driver

That is what Im starting to establish now... how much do I vape each day and what would constitute an acceptable supply for the time I am OTR. Ive only got one battery and a couple clearos at the moment, but by my next hometime will have backup batteries and more clearos. Also have a pyrex protank coming so I can try some of those flavors that will kill plastic tanks.
