hey Yiddle if you want your start button back you can use this:
Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements
then if you are lost pressing the windows key on the kb will pop it open and bring back your desktop ;)

Yiddle, you've now gotten two recommendations for Classic Shell... the computer maintainance part 2 PM I sent you on the 25th has the same recommendation.

Thanks {{{Harmonic}}} I didn't need the start button so much....once I found the desktop tile... I panicked for a bit in the beginning....but I'm getting there...slowly...with help..:D

If I recall... the Win8 switcher is activated by moving your mouse in the upper left corner of your screen. Using any of the Win8 apps limits you to no more than 2 on the screen at a time... side by side sort of. I don't use Win8 apps, I use Windows standard programs where I can have multiple windows where ever I want. Instead of going to a separate Start Screen to start a program, I use the standard Start Menu on the desktop where all of my windows are open and arranged how I like them. Bouncing between the desktop and the Start Screen to start a program is inefficient in my books not to mention the limitation that just having one or two apps only open on a screen has. I don't mind the new style apps, I just find them less efficient than the standard programs that are in a window.

In about October or November, Microsoft should be releasing Win8.1 and currently it has added the Start Menu back and also provided additional style layouts for the Start Screen ( if you like it ). This will be a free upgrade for current Window 8 users....
