Hello all, my name is Nancy. I just started with the ecig last week. I bought the one from smokingeverywhere and am waiting on the DSE901, which from what is being said on this site is much better. Wish I would have found you guys before I bought the other, oh well, it will make a nice present for my future son-in-law. LOL

I was reading the thread on DIY e liquids and about the vegetable glycerin and where to find it and such and I have some from NOW which I use in aromatherapy and since it is pure enough for internal use, I tried it, starting this morning, so far it is working just fine, but I didn't want to recommend it to anyone if it is going to do in the atomizer. So how long would it be before I know? I mixed it half and half with some e liquid from Johnson's Creek. And is a fair test of it? Should it be stronger? Would it be possible to use just the VG and an essential oil? Would that be a better test?

Also as someone just starting out. How many batteries and atomizers should a person keep available? Is it possible to leave the battery on the charger for too long? I work nights and come home and just plug them in and go to bed.

Darn, this got long, sorry. TIA for any help/answers you have.

The number of batteries is a matter of personal preference. You always want to have extra batteries and atomizers, because without these you are dead in the water.

I have about 30 901 batteries and atomizers.

My wife uses a 901 and realistically she would need about 5-6 batteries to ensure that she had an entire days supply. Atomizers are a different story. Of the 30 I have, not one has gone bad yet. I wouls say you should have 4-5, because you could run into a streak where 3-4 go bad rather quickly and you always want to have enough to get through until you can order more.

It is almost impossible to overcharge a lithium ion battery. The only danger would be with a defective charger. I would say as long as you got it off the charger with 24-48 hours you should be fine.........

I know you need to be careful with certain oils in the atomizer. I use lorann oils flavoring and I know what I use there is fine. Someone may come along with more info on that issue.

Good luck, and welcome to the obsession.........

Your VG amount sounds fine, it's to taste so it depends on your preference. I would recommend using LorAnn Candy Oils and not any random essential oils to mix with the VG.

I recommend that you have at least 3 batteries so you can rotate between them. Atomizers, always have at least a spare or two in case one dies, you don't want to stuck without one! Also, never leave batteries overnight in a charger or for too long, they can explode or even start a fire.

Hi Nancy;

I mix my Johnson Creek 50 / 50 with Glycerin too. Works excellent. Don't use any liquids with oils in them. Oil doesn't vaporize, and may clog you atomizer. I get my Glycerin from CVS Pharmacy. Just make sure it is USP.

Atomizers are like light bulbs. Some go on, seemingly forever, and some blow out after a week or so. You never know. Mine seem to fail after about a month or so.

My comfort zone is 3 atomizers. If I order 5 of them, I reorder when I get down to 3. If you find a good sale price, order a .... load of them. They won't go bad.

Lorann's candy oil isn't all oil based! That's just the name.

True, but a select few are and therefore, you should be cautious/careful with which LorAnn's flavorings you choose to use/vape/mix. :)

There is a thread on this topic where someone compiled a list of all the LorAnn flavors and what they were made from and graded them on their ability to be mixed for vaping. I'm terrible at finding threads, so am unable to locate it for you right now, sorry!

I know the list you are talking about and I can't remember who posted it, but before I had seen that one, I had compiled my own reference document. In cse it's of use to anyone, here it is:
