Thanks duckie
I decided to hardwire the Kick and put it next to the fire switch. By soldering wires to the kick, I eliminated the problem of bad ground connection and the need to come up with a tube to install it in, plus it is very easy to access for adjustment. I also was kind of stuck for location because of where I wanted to locate the fire switch and did not want to make the box any taller (it's already 4.875 in. tall). I was also concerned that if the kick was set on top of the battery, inserting the battery from the side might cause damage to the unit from sliding the button under it...it wasn't designed for that. Plus, I dropped my
mod on a hard tile floor (horrors!) but suffered no damage...not so confident that a normal installation would fare so well.
I soldered wires to each connection point on the kick and connected them to the appropriate points. The fire switch is connected to the battery negative (ground) which gave a convenient connection point for both the kick and the 510 connector
