Hi,

I am new to e-cigs and i recently bought smoov cig starter kit with johnson creek original french vanilla PG smoke juice. My problem is, I am not getting much vapor out of my e-cig, it's hitting my throat like i am smoking reds, but very little vapor. Also it gives me a weird aftertaste after few puffs from the e-cig. My friend just bough the 510-T and his was almost three times more vapor then mine, he said he was using a mixed juice with 70pg/30vg, but shouldn't all PG juice have some VG in it? Anyways i tried blowing out the carto and not overloading it, but no matter what direction i follow, it's the same, very few vapor. I even tried charging my battiers for 24hours, but no luck. What can be my problem?

And Is there a mod i can buy or another branded carto/ato that i can use with my smoov D808-1 batteries that is better then the smoov carto?

Also i bought some red oak VG juice and original PG juice from johnson creek, can i mix the VG / PG juice by dropping them both on my carto? Not sure if this is a good idea or not, but if the johnson creek PG juice doesn't produce alot of vapor i wondered if i could mix the two and balance it out.

I'm new as well so don't take too much weight from my response. Althought i did read an issue like this earlier, someone had suggested taking longer and slower pulls. They said that it will give the atomizer more time to heat up and effectively vaporize the liquid. Hope that helps.
edit) And the bad taste may be the liquid going into your mouth as result of it not being heated up enough.

Personally, I've never even heard of Smoov brand. But Blu also uses Johnsons creek, and I find pretty much anything with the word "vanilla" in it is VERY hit and miss. Sometimes duds, other times 10/10 in all categories. Dunno what it is, but it seems JC + Vanilla + reliability just doesn't mix.

\/ this. this right here. Not my signature, the post below this one. That sums things up pretty well when it comes to home-brewing. Just be careful not to do something too crazy.. (sushi flavored anyone?)

Hi kinetics! I have never had a smoov but I can answer part of your question. PG (propylene glycol) gives much less vapor but more th (throat hit) than VG (vegetable glycerin). You can mix any juice with any juice you want if you think it will taste good. You can buy plain PG and VG at many pharmacies and from many vendors here and at amazon.

There are so many brands of 808 cartos it is up to each person to say what is "better". I had cig2o for my first e-cig and those were ok. I am on a 510 with atomizers now.
Good luck in your quest for maximum vapor! (yes you will need some vg mixed in there to get it!)

Hi Kinetics, Jeebus, I think has something there. Technique is all too often one of the most important factors of getting it right when it comes to vaping. If you haven't read the prep section here or most anywhere about draw type you will be hard pressed to get a good "puff" of vapor. Most often pg carries a heavier kick also often refered to as throat hit or th. Vg on the other hand produces more of a volume of vapor and is more mellow on the throat hit, even within the same flavors. My first part of finding a great vape was getting the act of the draw correct. When I give a pv to an analog user I tell them to take a gentle draw for three to five seconds, draw the vapor into the mouth, release the button and follow that with the inhale into the lungs. Quite differently than just puffing a quick puff on an analog. There are many great videos which could help if this explanation leaves you with not much more than????. In addition to that are you filling the cartomizer as the manufacturer(or vendor) suggests? My first cartos got put by the wayside because I had no idea you were supposed to get over 20 (+-1Ml)of fluid into them.so the pformance wasn't up to par or even close to what I currently get from the exact same thing. The 808 is reguarded by many as a wonderful pv so it is doubtful that it is an equipment or niquid issue, if everything is working correctly. I personally had a rough time when I began vaping just because I hadn't found the ECF or any instruction otherwise on how to properly use my new device. But oh my goodness once I did I finally realized just what I had been missing all along. I hope this helps. Please let us know how you make out with this issue. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

I think smoov is like SmokelessImage Volt? A rubberized finish KR808D-1 threaded 2-piece with cartomizers?

Cartomizers do not work well with thick juices. if you have 100% VG or high VG juice (which many JC juices are) then it will be extremely difficult to use in cartomizers. It's just too thick. And even if you get it to soak in and get enough in there, it won't move quickly enough through the stuffing to keep the coil area damp and you'll singe the carto and get bitter taste.

And if a juice is 100% PG it will be plenty thin, and let through the flavor and throat hit well, but also let nicotine irritation through and will make thin weak vapor.

Most people use high-PG blends in cartomizers. I use 80PG/20VG. That is also what SmokelessImage uses. And I use Vapor4Life WOW juices which are around the same PG/VG. The bit of VG smooths the irritation while letting through most of the flavor and hit and adds some nicer vapor. I also avoid all dark, cloudy or opaque juices because they usually drop a bunch of flavoring sediment in the carto and ruin everything - gunk up the stuffing and coil, ruining the wicking and the drag.

Hi Kenetics, I also recently bought a Smoov. I believe it is the same as the Volt but I'm not positive. As said above the way you draw is very important and if you want more vape than you want higher VG. Personally I prefer higher PG for the th. I also get a metallic type taste from the Smoov carto and would like to know if there are others I could use. I am still confused on which cartos are compatible with the Smoov so I am looking for some advise on what to get. There isn't much info on the Smoov which makes it difficult for us newbies. I am also wondering that if it is true that it is compatible to the volt, than can I use the Volt atty and carto with my Smoov equipment? I need more batteries and cartos but just don't know what to buy - it is sooooo frustrating!

@dormouse - I've done all you suggested regarding juices. I still get this metallic type taste. Don't know if it's coming from the juices or the carto. I like a strong tabacco flavor that is not sweet. Can you suggest anything that would help or recommend cartos or juice that don't taste like metal/chemical?

I don't vape tobacco, but Cooper Creek house blend is very popular here.

My sister likes Vapor Station tampa (she smoked Marlboro). my mom loves backwoods brew tobacco juices. She vaped virginia, 555, and now only vapes Casablanca.

Not sure about the metalic taste in cartos, sorry. Could it be your juice?

You can get KR808 cartos from V4L, Smokeless Image. Ikenvape makes XL cartomizers for a KR808 that hold a lot of juice. They're a little pricey but big!

Thanks for all your suggestions, i just got a set of manual batteries from smoov because they messed up my order and sent me blue batteries instead of black that i ordered. I am now getting double amount of vapor using manual battery then using the auto battery i had, but the taste is the same. It does give me rich vanilla flavor at first, but it gets weird after few puffs just like what Mookie is saying about tasting like chemical.

I have a feeling that the taste might be coming from the smoov cartos. I need to find some artomizer or any other alternatives for my battery and test this out.
I also noticed that there are 901 to 510 adapters and that D808 is same as 901. Is it possible to buy the 901 - 510 adapter and use the 510 Tank mod with my D808 batteries? or at least the 510 atomizers? not sure what would be best, either buy an adapter or buy atomizers that fits my battery.

That is a classic sign of wicking issues.

I would try to help you with that but I am not familiar with cartomizers.
I'm sure someone will come along shortly that can lend some assistance.
:)
