Just a quick note to introduce myself, just another designer/illustrator in the San Francisco Bay Area. Sunday will be my first month vaping seriously!

Smoking background - pack a day for a long time, with a few fake quits here and there. The last half of 2012 and the beginning of 2013 were off the charts stressful times, discovered I was doing two packs a day (camel lights), and moved into a non-smoking apartment, and realized it was time. I spent wasted money on Blu and NJoy for a couple of days. Got addicted to the gum, itched at the patches, and drove everyone nuts going cold turkey - and ended up spending too much time in the parking lot smoking. I'm an artist/creative type, always working on something, so breaking away like that is rough, when it's every half hour!

Found this very forum, started reading up. Found myself at some moldy head shop in Berkeley one day, bought a cheap Buck Naked Express and whatever juice they were pushing, and tried it. The juice was all chemicals...but...there's something to this!

Found two other places near me that sell juice and gear (the Vapor Lounge and Tasty Vapor), and now I'm rocking a Pro II mini and a Pro II. Love 'em! I have a small but growing juice collection, too.

I'll admit, I've had a couple of cigarettes since I started. They're in the car, the old-smoker in me can't bring myself to throw them out, so when I'm driving...anyway, didn't enjoy them. They don't taste good anymore! (At least, they don't taste like Boston Cream Pie!) So, when they're gone, or I man up and toss them, I'm done. And, for the first time in many decades, the idea doesn't freak me out.

I already spent a bunch of money, so I'm going slow now, I'm limiting myself to one new toy a month. :) This month's is going to be a carto tank and all the trimmings, December I may reward myself with a Provari. I'm learning, mostly from reading here, to try everything!

PS - Maybe this has been discussed, but the one thing I've noticed is that I don't FIEND for a smoke now, like when I smoked Camels. I can go hours now between vapes, and not even notice. When I smoked a cigarette in the car, 5 minutes later I was going through massive nicotine fits, serious cravings, but I just pulled out the mini, took a couple hits, and didn't even think about it until after I got home. I used to white knuckle it after not smoking for 20 minutes with cigarettes. What's that all about?

congratulations. and yea its kind of weird not fiending. my first day vaping. i had a cig a like from years back and i needed some nicotine at work so i brought it along one day and vaped all day until we had a smoke break. when the break came around i didnt even want a cig. and that was when i decided that i was now a vaper and gave the rest of my pack to a co worker. from that point forward i have only smoked one ciggy and it was disgusting. i went home researched a little and decided that i needed an ego starter kit with a few clearos. and i have not looked back since.

Welcome to ECF and congrats on kicking the habit! From what I've heard the Bay area is hopping with new vape shops. Here's where the internet and this forum can be your best friend. There is a review forum for shops, companies, and e-juices. Find a shop and check it out. and it can also lead you to some really amazing juices.

And don't worry about the compulsion to smoke in the car...I still have it after a year but one puff and I'm like what the .... was I thinking? I continue to tell myself it will pass. I'm getting much much better at ignoring that urge when I get in the car.

Congrats on quitting and hello from the East Bay! I actually just made a visit to the Vapor Lounge last night. Was just what my best friend needed to get off the cigs (she had tried my e-cigs already and loved them). They were a little pricey compared to what you can find on the internet, but can you really put a price on someone's health/life?

I have not heard of Tasty Vapor, was wondering where that was exactly and how is it? I live in the far East Bay and the closest I could find was Vapor Lounge and it's still about 1/2 hour away.

Welcome and again congrats on quitting! :)

I did the same thing until the day I had 2 cigs left. That was the day I made the decision to stop smoking and start vaping. And that is really all it is about. So many people talk about doing them both and then one day you will magically decide your going to just vape. But that was not the case for me. There is a level of "manning up" that the transition will require. However I will say that once I put that last cig out and stuck just to vaping, I haven't looked back. This isn't a sport to me or a hobby, I lift weights and am a woodworker for that. This is me changing my life with a tool that wasn't available until recently. And it FREAKIN works. Good luck OP!

Oh and FYI... those kangar tanks are sweet but the new iclear 30s...... even sweeter IMO!

Welcome to the forum! I think the thing is to not beat yourself up if you have a cig. Just keep vaping and yes when you decide to finally drop that last cig then it more than likely will not be difficult. I've picked up a smoke a few times since I decided no more smokes and decided.. yuk! smokes taste aweful, put them out and vaped... ahh.. much tastier. :D

Yeah.. not spending money is I think the trickiest part for most of us vapors here. So much to buy so we can try!

Tasty Vapor is south east of Jack London Square and Lake Merritt, in Oakland - for the Trivia peeps this area of Oakland is called "Jingletown". If you know where the Coast Guard Island is, it's directly east of it, halfway between the Coliseum and Jack London on 880. Google map the directions, it's a little tricky to get in and out of there. On the weekends you should have no problems getting in or out, and there's plenty of parking. It's worth the trip at least once!

Welcome to Tasty Vapor
