Hi everyone - just a quick note to introduce myself. Soon to be 40, been smoking on and off since 15 or so.
My dad smoked a lot when I was a tyke and I feel like all that exposure turned me into an addict by proxy. I think it also contributed to me having a decreased lung capacity from an early age - I'd always get winded faster than my peers. I had an asthma test many years ago and while the test came out negative, the technician was surprised at how little volume I could exhale overall.
I've got three boys of my own now, 5, 3.5, and 8mos - so far they do not know I smoke. I've managed to hide it from them with only a few close calls. I always smoke outside and wash my hands and chew some gum when I come in.
For the past few years I've smoked Camel Ultra Lights - average of about 7 - 10 a day. So, obviously not a 'heavy' smoker compared to most. I've had a couple breaks, some as long as a couple years, by either going cold-turkey or using the patch. What usually breaks me is going drinking with friends, or being a part of a band (I play drums, not so much anymore - daddy = full time work) where other members smoke.
I think I first got the notion of electronic cigs by seeing a kiosk in the local mall a couple years ago. I didn't investigate back then, but just tucked it away in my head. After getting really fed up with the bad breath, the cost, having to take breaks at inopportune times at work or home to go outside, and failing my last attempt at quitting with the patch, I decided to look up ecigs and landed here. Actually I recently heard about this forum from a news spot; Radio, tv or web - I don't remember exactly.
I read for about a week here and decided to order a 510. Just before clicking the 'place my order' button, I figured I'd better double check here to make sure the vendor was listed and reputable. They don't have their own subforum here, so I scanned the vender forums and saw Vapor4Life as having the most posts (by far) and figured that had to be a pretty good testament to the product. After a bit more reading, I ordered a VK kit last Tues and it got here on Friday. I've been analog free since.
I started vaping Fri night after the kids went to bed - so around 8pm. Right now it's Sunday ~4pm and I'm still on my first cartridge. Also, I used the USB passthrough Fri night, but all Saturday and today I've used the same automatic battery after only it's first charge. Good sign, eh?
I ordered something like 20 premium cartridges (all 18mg nic) via sampler packs, so I'm encouraged that I've got enough to last me a couple weeks. So far my frequency seems to be one or two good puffs every half hour or so.
I think my next step will be to get some low or zero mg catridges so I can 'enjoy' vaping more.
Well that's about it for now! Cheers all, and oh - if anyone knows somewhere in the Seattle area that sells cartomizers, do share!
