Welcome to ECF Brady.

I'm a bit surprised no one has taken the time, since yesterday, to at least say hello. It is IMO, the "responsibility" of long term members to welcome new members. ;-)

Anyway... moving on to mechs. A few things you need to know. Mechs are nothing more than unregulated battery holders with a "switch". The available output, all else being equal, is based on coil resistance and battery available amperage... with no real "user control", but those two variables.

Fitting a standard type, production atomizer, like a glasso or clearo with pre-built "common resistance" coil heads, on a unregulated mech may actually provide a lower quality of performance than if you had used a VV-VW APV (or Kick VW insert in a tube mech), where output can be boosted and controlled.

The point is - especially if you intend to work with rebuildables - you need to spend a bit of time learning the basics of Ohm's Law, in particular the parity between resistance and amperage. Click on my second sig line hyperlink if you have a greater interest.

Cheers

Talk to people who have experience with mechanicals and have them help you out with your first few builds. Find a nearby/local vape shop and spend some time there, BS with people, learn new things, build some coils.

Just be responsible/safe and you will never have a reason to put your mechanical down again. I love it and it has completely changed my enthusiasm for vaping.

Do you want to look good or feel good. I thing the mechanical mods look far better and the VV/VW mods feel a lot better.

With the mechanical until you, if you ever do, get into building your own coils there is not much you can do to change the way it vapes. You will find that different juices behave differently in a single setup. One might be better a little hotter while another tastes better just a touch cooler. With a mechanical you would build your own coil and it might be different for each juice you like.

With a VV/VW you can change the power level with a few button presses. Using a juice that likes it warmer? Just up the wattage and be happy. Change to a one that want it cooler? Again, press a few buttons and you have it.

I have both mechanical and VV/VW. For the mechanical I fit the juice to the mod. For the VV/VW I use whatever juice I want and press a few buttons.

With the mechanical I worry that I will run the battery down too far and hurt it. With the VV/VW it looks out for the battery and the light turns red when it is time to recharge.

But, you should vape what YOU want. Before I started I thought the hammer, a mechanical mod, was the coolest thing I had seen and now it is my least used mod.

I'm a big time mech guy. I love every one of my mechs. Yesterday I bought the nautilus tank because of the rumors I had heard, even from close friends, that it rivaled their kayfuns. Too this day, not one thing in my bag can rival my kayfuns. That's why I have multiple of them, and only one nautilus, aerotank, protank1,2,3(one of each to see benefit). Nothing I use can even compare for a tank style. Only one that's close is the aqua but I found it to be a love hate relationship on the aqua. Use what you like the look of, and build your coil accordingly. Meaning don't go straight for that .14 ohm build. No need to put that much stress on a battery. I find that a .4-.7 ohm range is perfect for my kayfuns, and I get more battery life as well. Dripping is another category though. Dripping for me is a different story. Lol.
