Hi everybody. First thing first, I want to say hello to everyone. Actually I'm not quite a "newbie" in this vaping world. I've joined the forum like 9 months ago and bought my first setup which were the mvp 2.0 with nautilus mini tank. I smoke 10-15 cigs a day so at that time I was thinking of these e-cig will help me quit smoking. I was wrong. This setup was somewhat underpower for me (at least that what I was thinking). There was lacking of vapor, favor and really harsh. I didn't know if I've bought the right juices or not but I remembered that I've bought few bottles from some place called mt baker or something like that and I got them as 50/50 and 18mg. I ended up quit using this set up after few days because honestly it tasted not really good so I gave it to one of my friend who was even heavier smoker than me. He used to smoke about 2 packs a day and since he got my setup, he gradually reduced his smoking and started vaping. After 9 months, he completely quit smoking. Its really amazing though. I really want to quit smoking and based on his result, I'm thinking of going back to e-cig once again. After reading some articles, watching youtube videos and doing few researches, I think that I would go with mechanical mod setup. But because I'm still newbie in this field so I don't want to risk it again because I've heard that mec mod is somehow very dangerous if you don't have it properly setup. So I decided that I would go with the MVP 3.0 pro, its powerful enough (60w) and may serve my needs well. I'm going to pair it with RDA Goblin V2. From what I've read, the RDA will keep the flavor and produce a massive vapor and I think thats what I want. I think that after I've got used to these, I will start to build my first Mec mod but at this time, I think I will stick with these to see how it goes. So do you think that this is a good setup? any other recommendation will be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry to keep this so long but I just want to make sure this time the e-cig won't disappoint me anymore lol.

Hi @KennyH and welcome back to the forum. I tried dripping and it wasn't for me. I ended up getting dry hits when I didn't know it was time to drip more in and I didn't feel like trying to count my vapes so I'd know when to reload. If you are interested in big clouds you could get a dripper for show, but for "go" I'd recommend a Kanger Subtank Mini which is great for flavor (or something similar). It holds 4.5 ml of juice, comes with a .5 and 1.2 ohm OCC coils, and has a rebuild deck you can coil to whatever you desire. I'd also suggest looking at a kuro koiler as a coiling jig. Good luck in your journey.

I would look more towards an Atlantis or Arctic tank or delta 2 if you want flavor and ease of use. While dripping is easy you have to carry the juice with you and rewick and whatnot. If that's something you don't mind doing then go for it. I don't think mech mods are dangerous, but i think that they lack in a few areas such as variable wattage and voltage consistency. The evic vt is a very nice setup and I would definitely consider that.

I skimmed through most of your post, I apologize if i'm misinterpreting.

I also have an MVP2 and a Nautilus Mini. The 11W that the MVP2 puts out is not enough for me either, didn't leave me satisfied. I use the tank at 15W on a different mod.

You don't need to get an RDA/RTA to get massive vapor, although you're welcome to get one if you still want. Any premade coil at 0.5 ohms will give you what you need.

You can, legit, hit like a train.

My advice:

Get the MVP3 Pro and a Subtank (rebuildable if you still want to try RTAs); strong on flavours and thick clouds.

I love my Atlantis V2 and it produces a lot more vapor than the Subtank. The problem is that it has huge airflow to make that possible. The fully open draw and less dense vapor isn't as satisfying for a smoker.

You are right in going with the MVP over a mech mod, you will like the ability to adjust your wattage as you go. That will help teach you what kind of power you need for the vape that you end up liking more. You may find that vaping at 10 to 15 watts is all you need for perfect flavor.

Because you are thinking of a dripper, obviously you want to build your own coils. As you learn how to build different coil resistances you can see how power affects the flavor depending on the ohms of your coil, so variable wattage is the way to go. I found my sweet spot at 1.5 ohm coils at about 10 watts. I hated the whole sub ohm thing because the vapor was way too hot and harsh for my liking - to each his own, you need to find out what works for you.

As for flavor, I highly recommend a Kayfun Lite clone by EhPro (about $25 - $30), because it is easy to build on and perfect for the beginner as you explore the world of coil building. The Kayfun gives you much better flavor than any tank using pre-built coils like Kanger, Atlantis and others. It is not a good choice for sub ohm vaping though.

I would not recommend a beginner starting out with a sub ohm tank. Vaping is NOT smoking, you need to learn there is a different way of inhaling vapor. When I first started I coughed more with vapor than with my cigarettes. As I got used to it, the coughs went away. Because you are trying to quit the analogs, flavor is the most important aspect of the vape experience, leave the cloud chasing for later after you truly begin to enjoy vaping. By then you will know what flavors you like and will know your way around ohms and watts. In the beginning, just get juices that are about 70% VG rather and 50% PG/VG and you'll get more vapor production.

Hi guys! First of all, I want to say thank you for all of you who gave me such a great advise. I'm not a cloud chaser or something like that. I was just thinking that its kind of cool to get that much cloud out of the vaporize pen but I heard y'all so I think I would go get the MVP pro. Which tank should I get to pair up with this? subtank or atlantis v2? I've read a lot of reviews about these 2 and they are kind of mixed. Some people say this one better than another one. I'm planning to buy all of my stuffs online, so when would I get all of these for good price then?

I quit a 45+ year smoking habit the day after I started on a vaporizer. That was about ten weeks ago. Never looked back. It may not be the equipment, but the desire, or lack thereof, to quit cigarettes. I know, I've been there...many, many times over the years. Get a good vaporizer, a strong enough e-liquid (I used 24mg/ml), set your mind to the task, and you can do it. Good luck.

I have both, I use both, I love both. I would suggest the subtank, here's why:

Subtank
  • Coils available in 0.5 and 1.2 ohms (you can go sub-ohm, or use it like a regular tank)
  • Comes with an RBA deck turning the Subtank into an RTA when you're ready to learn to rebuild
  • Tighter draw, better able to do mouth to lung hits like most cigarette smokers
  • Stronger flavour from denser smoke
Atlantis V2
  • Coils only available in 0.5 and 0.3 ohms
  • Vertical coils let you vape at a higher wattage: optimally you need 45-80W for the two coils (MVP3 Pro only goes to 60)
  • No RBA deck to turn it into an RTA
  • Airy draw, a lot more airflow, and more potential vapor
  • Less dense vapor that requires a direct lung draw

Side note: the lowest Atlantis V2 airflow setting is still higher than the highest subtank airflow setting. They're built for 2 different types of vaping and not really directly comparable, despite most of us always comparing them.

It boils down to this:

Flavour & Density (Subtank) vs Clouds & Airflow (Atlantis V2)

Subtank can still put out a ton of vapor though. Recording mine now, will update in a couple minutes.

The MVP is a good choice for starting out, since as another person stated earlier, the adjustable power lets you dial in the kind of vape you want and find out what works best with whichever tank you choose. The goblin is a great atomizer, however, it is a bit tricky to build properly, I would definitely recommend a clearomizer type tank to get started with then move up to a rebuildable when you are ready. I haven't used the subtank myself, but the included rebuildable section is a nice bonus. Personally I mostly use the aspire atlantis and have been very happy with it.

Thanks for your suggestion and video. Its really helpful in order for me to pick up the right one. I think I would go with your suggestion. However, after reading some other reviews, I decide to buy the eleaf istick 50w instead of the MVP 3.0 pro. The MVP is nice and looks really good and I've had a great experience with it in the past but its a bit too big for me.
