Newbie Package & Extras?

Hi -

I'm going to try e-cigs for the first time, and was wondering if the following beginner's package (DSE 901B - $77.50 ) looks worthwhile to you experienced smokers:
Kit includes:

2 - Black Atomizers
2 - Black batteries (Blue LED)
1 - Black Battery (Orange LED)
1 - Battery Charger
1 - Power Cord
1 - Pack of Cartridges (Mixed Marboro) 5 cartridges in a Pack.
1 - Pack of Cartridges Your choice (Marb High, Tobacco High,
Menthol High) 5 cartridges in a Pack
1 - Black Soft Leather Cig case with zipper top.
1 - Bottle of Liquid Kick juice (nicotine) 10 ml (flavors 555 High,
Mint Medium and High, Tobacco Medium and High, Coffee
High, Chocolate High
1 - Syringe with seperate needle
1 - USB charger for DSE901 mini
5 - Blank core cartridges for juicing

Also, what extra parts and accessories should I order (anything that will need replacement over the first few months - juice, atomizers, batteries, etc.), and in what recommended quantities?

FYI - I currently smoke one pack of menthol cigarettes per day.

Any and all advice is deeply appreciated. I'm looking forward to giving this a try, and to getting to know the good folks in here

Welcome to the forum Jon.

That's a great choice, it covers all the bases for a start, it's a good price and you'll get top notch customer service with Katy.

You will find that batteries and atomisers fail and you'll have to get replacements regularly. I don't know how many you'll need for a couple of months, it depends on the way you vape and luck. You'll also need more juice (average use is 2ml per day).

If I were you I'd just get the starter package and see if you like it. Then get a couple of extra batteries and atomisers when you order some more juice.

Yeah, this forum is full of useful information and helpful folk.

Don't press yourself too hard to quit smoking. Some do quit straight away with no trouble and very little willpower but others can get discouraged if they aren't immediately successful. Think in terms of a week or two to gradually reduce the tobacco if you still have cravings. It's not the end of the world if you have one occasionally, just pick up where you left off. Reduction is better than nothing.

Good luck with it, I hope you enjoy.

Jon -

I would definitely give Jane's Kick Juice a try. I've got the same starter kit you were looking at. I went with the low mint juice and I couldn't be happier. I was a menthol smoker as well and while Jane's Abandon Mint isn't menthol is soooo much better.

Definitely will give it a try, thanks. I've sent an e-mail over to the Smokeless Shop with a proposed first order, and will be asking Katy for some feedback as well.

Here's how I was thinking of getting started:

1) 1 DSE901 Ultimate Starter Kit

2) 1 30 ML Kick Juice (Mint/Menthol High)

3) 4 packs DSE901 cartridges (Menthol High)

4) 1 extra DSE901 Battery (White/Orange LED)

5) 2 extra DSE Atomizers

Am I forgetting anything in your opinion?

I run the risk of angering Katy by costing her some extra sales but, I think the starter kit alone is a great purchase by itself. You want to make sure this is something you can stick with. The starter will last you a few weeks as far as juice and carts go and if you still like it by then, then you should make an order for extra parts. You'll already be getting 3 batteries and 2 atomizers, plus plenty of carts. The only thing outside of the kit, I would maybe get some extra liquid.

I know there's a post somewhere in this forum that urges every newb they should buy like 10 batts, 5 chargers, countless atomizers, etc. and it makes us newbies crazy with spending. I think it's best to make sure you're going to like vaping before you invest too much.

If you're set on esmoking however go for the whole shebang, extra parts and all. Katy is a wonderful supplier to deal with so you shouldn't have any qualms.

Good Luck

Excellent points... here's how I'm looking at it. Even if I don't find vaping to be a 100% substitute for smoking, I think it will have a regular place in my life. To wit:

1) I do a fair bit of traveling, so for airports, etc. it will be a much nicer alternative than gum, lozenges or (worst of all) patches.

2) I have two kids, so smoking in the house or in the car with them is out of the question. And, being in Chicago, I'm sure you can imagine what a pain in the a** it is to step out into zero-degree weather to get my fix. :(

Again, I appreciate all the great suggestions and input from everyone here. You a great group of folks. Thank you!

Hi Jon,

Where are you planning on purchasing the beginner's package that you listed at the beginning of this thread. It's gotten me really interested in investing in that (since I am thinking of learning how to drip in addition to maybe trying another e-cig) so could you provide me with a website to take a look?

Additionally, a question for anyone: What does the syringe and needle have to do with e-cigs?

Thanks!

I'm going with Katy at The Smokeless Shop for my first order. She's listed in the vendor area of this forum and I've heard good things about her from the members here.

The syringe is used to refill the juice cartridges (as opposed to relying on pre-filled cartridges; the same concept as printer toner refill kits). It also gives you the opportunity to buy and use your favorite juices in bulk and save a little money.
