I bought a cheap starter kit and would like to try it out as the idea of DIY appeals to my Scottish nature:facepalm:. I've read some and think I have the general idea how his is done.

My kit has 3- 20 ml bottles to work with; 1 PG, 1 VG and 1 36mg nic juice. I was curious about the make-up of the nic juice. Is it basically some nicotine at the stated strength mixed in with some PG or VG? The bottle doesn't say and I note that its viscosity seems to be less than the VG yet clearly more than the PG. So can assume its say, a 50-50 mix? Does it even matter?

My other question involves cappucino. I've discovered I like a certain vendor's pre-mixed juice alot and would like something close to that. Is there a flavoring brand/type that seems to be a good one?

Thanks for any and all guidance.

Basically:
Figure out the quantity of your juice batch, such as 6mL
Add the amount of nic juice to get the nic/mL you want
Add your chosen percentage of flavoring, such as 10% (15% of a 6mL batch would be 0.9mL)
Top off the batch by adding VG and/or PG

Breaktru's recipe calculator is often recommended.

Flavoring
I suggest: cappuccino - e juice flavored vanilla e liquid coffee flavor e cigarette water flavoring Ã

And while you're there, think about Vanilla Custard, Vanilla Cupcake, New York Cheesecake. Good to have.

Capella takes awhile to ship though... maybe someone else can suggest a quicker vendor for Capella flavorings.

Ask the place where you bought the nic juice what the PG/VG ratio is.

WHat juice vendor do you like? If I look there I might recognize flavoring names and know which brand of flavorings they use. Like I know FreedomSMokeUSA, VaporBomb, and maybe PureVapes (sinc ehe sells some Flavourart) seem to use Flavourart. I know Backwoods Brew uses flavorings from a many sources including flavorings he extracts himself so you will not duplicate Backwoods Brews juices. I know Void Mist and Madvapes both sell Cherry Blossom and only Perfumer's Apprentice offers that flavoring so those two are probably using Perfumer's Apprentice for at least some of their flavorings. I believe VapeRenu may use Flavorwest flavorings? But some juice vendors use totally made up names for their flavors and in those cases people would probably not be able to guess the flavoring vendor.

If you like Dekang Chinese juices, then no idea. They probably use some kind of Chinese flavors.

The brand I really like is called "High Caliber" from Litecig. It's supposed to be USA-made. Admittedly, I've tried few other cappucinos so they may all be similar, but I find this one is a nice all day vape. The problem is they only sell it in small quantities.

Anyway, since I have this little starter kit I thought I'd give this a shot. I am still a little confused as to the Nic juice base or even if it's that important since you use relatively small amounts. The pre-made juice I've got that seems to work well in my carto's is in the 80-20 or 70-30 PG to VG ratio. Therefore, for future reference would I be wise to get PG-based nic juice since that's predominately what will be in the final mix or is it not really even important? The other thing I'm a little confused about is under what circumstances do people add water to the mix?

PG based nic is thinner than VG and much easier to measure accurately. So, unless you intend to make predominately VG juice, there is every reason to use PG based nic.

The other thing I'm a little confused about is under what circumstances do people add water to the mix?

The only reason to use water is to thin the juice. If the juice is mostly PG, thinning shouldn't be necessary. The exception is when you want extra-thin juice for cartomizers.
