It's a good idea to punch the empty tank onto the spike and then cut off the piece inside the cap that the spike displaces. It helps with the seal and not getting a burnt taste. Then after filling and putting the tank in let it sit for 5 minutes to wick. Take a few primer puffs(inhale without hitting the button) to make sure the atty is wet. Then you should be good to go.
You don't need any wool etc., just the tank filled with ejuice.

The tank is the device used to hold the juice and deliver it to the atomizer. So, as BluSwatch said, it is not necessary to use any type of filler material. If you find that the tank/atty system is not to your liking, simply remove the atomizer/tank and in its place, screw in a cartomizer (tank or cartridge/atty all in same unit).

Good choice for a first PV! Just fill and go. One fill lasts me most the day.

Tips after a month of using mine:
Make sure you are using some type of carrying case, do not just put it in your pocket (the tank will dislodge and you'll have a pocket full of juice). I use a case laying around from an electric razor; holds extra battery, atomizer, two bottles of juice, and USB charger. If I just want to carry the PV and not the gear, I use a snap box I found in my wife's closet that held a watch or bracelet. She hasn't missed it lol.

Never pick it up by the tank, always grab the battery. Made this mistake once, won't make it again. Tank came off in my hand, PV flew over my head (it's fine).
