Hey everyone,

I am brand new to this and about to purchase my first e-cigarette and have some questions. You should know that I live in Canada, and was about to purchase a kit from the U.S and then found out that importation of any supplies containing nicotine could be confiscated... ridiculous in my opinion. The article I read said that Health Canada hasn't approved it and considers nicotine to be a prescription drug! I guess I will have to bring a prescription the next time I go to buy the toxin coated cigarettes at the local store. I guess Harper is protecting the Big tobacco companies and tax revenues.

Questions:

1. Is there anywhere I can buy cartomizers with nicotine in Canada? (I don't see a point in using an e-cigarette without nicotine)
2. How likely is it that if I ordered nicotine containing items from the U.S that it would be confiscated?
3. What would happen to me legally if I were caught trying to import nicotine cartomizers from the U.S?
4. What is the best e-cigarette to buy for amount of vapor and throat hit? (preferably looks like a real cigarette)
5. How can Canadians get the law changed?

Thanks, any info will help.

Hi NickFit and welcome to ECF. After 5 posts wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and request a Cdn vendors list here
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ic-supplier-list-via-pm-only-part-2-a-39.html
Best and most inexpensive vendor in Canada:
www.CANVAPE.com
Good Luck.

2. How likely is it that if I ordered nicotine containing items from the U.S that it would be confiscated?
There are ways to do it but always a roll of the dice.
4. What is the best e-cigarette to buy for amount of vapor and throat hit? (preferably looks like a real cigarette)
Prolly the Volt but can only get it in the U.S. BUT remember although the Volt is a great PV battery life is sometimes an issue depending on how hard you vape. 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge.
5. How can Canadians get the law changed?
In the U.S. they have an org http://casaa.org/ but up here not much happening. There was great hope a number pf times but all our movements just fade into oblivion. I myself have been active and successful behind the scenes with certain people.

LOLLL re posts you're a quick learner. Yes the smaller cig sized batts are usually 300-400 mah while the mid sized batts are 650- 1100 mah. Batts go all the way up to 3100 mah. My Don has 2400 batts. Also with the 3.7 batts there's a wider range of delivery systems you can use without fear of damaging the batts. It's not only the Ecig but also the delivery system that will give a good vape- both have to be matched up according to specs- really not that complicated.

Blue edited above

Different delivery systems:
atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped
cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized
cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.
carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.
Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing.

Another question...

What is the difference in the maH values on the different models... Is it the battery size?

Some LOVE cartomizers while others LOVE clearomizers. I use both carto+ tank and clearomizers.
With carto+ tank before tight draw my cartos last:
light juice= 80-90 ml
dark juice- 50-60 ml.
With the new rebuildable clearomizers you have to wash and dry burn them every few days but mine are lasting about 4 weeks. After the head (wick+ coil) burns out simply unscrew old head and screw in new head- takes about 10 secs.
I DIY my juice, buy everything on sale and my operating costs are $1.50 per week. Realize start up costs will get ya though but the savings will definitely be there.

What about the differences between cartomizers and the e-liquid tanks?

I would prefer not to have to mess around with a liquid, but is it better? I gather it is cheaper to keep in supply... is it worth the trouble?

Excellant info Vapoor eyes er!

There are a lot more choices out there than I thought there would be... I read the "Which E-cigarette?" in the Infozone and it recommends the KR808, 510 and eGo. I would really prefer the analog size of the 808 or 510... and I would rather a disposable cart... would disposable carts even be feasible in Canada with the import restrictions?

There's many vendors here in Canada once you get the list. 510 PVs are more popular so much easier to get accessories unless you want to buy an 808 to 510 adapter for $3.00. Sometimes the pre filled is not the best of stuff and filling your own, esp with clearomizers, is so easy. Also buying pre filled you're really limiting your self to flavors. How much do you smoke per day and what brand?

Hi NickFit, till you get the hang of a cartomizer, you will be messing around alot with the liquid. It took me a month to start to like it....but thats me. But, please be aware as someone on ECF said, some of the name brands have QC issues now.

I guess I would be about a half pack or slightly more a day.... on weekends if I am drinking I may smoke a pack a day. I have roughly been on that usage level for about 17 years now. I used to smoke Players Light regs, but have moved to the cheaper John Players Silver regs for the last few years.

I would be open to the liquid if it isn't too much trouble... though I wonder about the costs of replacing the heads etc... if I went disposable, would there be any other parts other than the battery that would need replacing?

Your welcome, it easy to learn on this forum by just reading other peoples knowledge and experiences. Though iv'e only had this computor for 3 years, i don't no anywhere there would be more knowledge on one subject then there is here on e-cigs.

I think Vapoor eyes er is right on with the cost if you learn to make your own e-liquid....and its easy. In the long run you'll save lots of money, plus all the other benifits. Disposables, to me, is just throwing money away. I'm only 72 days into e-cigs but, i haven,t burnt up a coil yet, and fully intend to rewick/wire myselfself for pennies in cost. Filling a clearomizer with juice is easy, and if you get the rebuildable all you have to do is unscrew the head for 2-3 dollars. with cleaning and dry burning you should get at least 3 wks use and maybe much more.

You could order a Vivi Nova Mini and some replacement heads (coil+ wick). My heads are lasting about 4 weeks and cost about $2.50 each so a very conservative estimate of costs per week:
1 new head every 2 weeks= $1.25 per week+ 30 ml juice per week= $12.00= Total of less than $15.00 per week. Now realize the initial start up costs may run you about $100.00-$125.00 but you would be set for a few months. The toughest part will be finding the right juice.

Yes you would still need to buy cartomizers and juice unless the cartos were pre filled. If you really want a cig sized PV here's the best one available BUT it is an 808 connection. Smokeless Image has the best CS in the industry and has a very large and loyal following:
Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes | Wholesale Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarette | Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarette They also sell pre filled and blank cartos and clearomizers BUT are in the U.S.
Here's the 15% discount code off entire order:
Code: SIVOLT50
And after you receive your Volt post your pic here for a great freebie:

Good Luck.

Thanks for all the great info!

I got the list last night and was looking at the Redds kit from the MLV store (I abbreviated since I am not sure if I should fully identify the store)... I checked out the reviews here and people seemed pretty pleased with it, so I think I may give it a try. I wouldn't have to cross the border, its analog sized, batteries may be small but I like the PCC and the way you can recharge your batteries in the PCC while on the go, comes with 10 blank cartomizers and 33ml of juice.... the reviews say it gives the best vape and throat hits for a unit that size. I know it is a bit more expensive than other kits but the size and convenient PCC hooked me.

Any knowledge on the Redds or the MLV store?

Really busy. Yes the Redds is an 808 with PCC (Personal Charging Kit). I've got friends that use the Volt which is basically the same PV...you'll find many PV and accessories are renamed and it makes it very complicated. Yeah Ian at MapleLeafVapes is a solid vendor and his juices are treasured by many...he's also having a 20% labour day sale on everything except the Redds Starter kit.
