Hi All,
Been reading the forum for a wee bit and I've decided to, since I have made the conscious choice to stop smoking by vaping, say hello
. Liking this forum and so far I've gathered loads of information so Thank You to all.
Here's my story:
I'm James. A 42 year old male from Scotland. I've been smoking since the age of...you know I can't actually remember. I remember playing 'butty' when I was 9 but don't think I actually started (as in having a packet with me at all times) till I was 12. So 30 years. The last 17 years I have been smoking roll ups. In my head it was because I was aware of all the other 'things' the manufacturer's put in normal cigarettes so thought I was making a 'better' choice.
I have never tried to stop smoking but I have went through two periods of buying vapes but didn't research enough and gave up before I even started. The first time I thought it was because of the cheap(ish) vape I bought so went in the bin. Second time I bought a slightly better on but gave up before I started thinking it was because of the nicotine liquid content I was recommended. I was using it constantly which made me feel unwell - probably nicotine overdose - but the simple truth is that I had no intention of giving up.
I am now glad of those two periods and since then I have realised it is about the process for me. So what I have done this time is buy a better mod - Cool Fire 4 with Kanger Protank 4 - with a lower nicotine juice (6mg) that I can use all day. I found I was using all day when I was 'dabbling' the second time. I have also got another 'cheaper' Blu e-cig which I have put a higher 12mg in for those moments when (if) I have a nicotine craving.
The reason I want to stop smoking is that recently I have started running (6 months) but for the life of me I cannot get faster. In fact, I took part in a Duathlon at the weekend and I came last in the run. Turns out I didn't but I came 41st out of 62 but the ones behind me were walking. This has been enough for me to say 'No way am I coming last again!' so my journey started yesterday at 6.46pm which was the last time I rolled. 24 hours have passed and I am now on my second day
. For me that's a big deal. I haven't chosen to have a single day without smoking prior to yesterday.
That's my story. Thought I'd say hello and log my route here
Out of curiosity any runners here at all? I'm curious about lung capacity and resistance. I'm aware that there's been 'reports' (that's in apostrophes because I understand how the capitalistic world works - money before people and I take any report where companies are losing money with a pinch of salt) where there is a lung resistance after vaping but can't seem to find anything regarding 30/60/120 mins after. So if there are people who were runners before they stopped smoking and are still runners after stopping smoking whilst vaping then I'd like to hear from you and how you've improved.
I've started this journey with a single step over the last 24 hours and now I'm on the way to my destination
So, Hi again.
