I am getting my new vaporesso Tarot Nano tomorrow and have a question before firing it up for the first time. I currently have a setup that is 1.6ohm coil firing at 14watts/5volts respectively with 36mg of nicotine. Built up a pretty high tolerance fast to the lower nics. I need help in choosing a new nic level for this sub-ohm setup. I don't want to overdo it and I don't want to spend a ton of money buying a whole bunch of different nic level liquids without at least a starting point on where to go first. Please help.

The tarot nano is a really good kit congrats on that.
Sub ohming can be a relatively big change from 1.6 ohms.
The nic level also depends on wattage you plan to vape it at.
If i remember correctly the kit comes with a 0.4 ohm coil and vaping that at 14 watts wouldn't be any fun.
You might wanna go from 40w to about 80w for that and a nic level of 6-8mg should suit you for that range.

Another thing you can do is get some nic and plain vg, both of which are relatively cheap.
Mix the nic in plain vg in very small batches in different concentrations and try em out. Vg is a little sweet in its natural form so it shouldn't be too bad of a vape, some people actually vape that exclusively.
HTH.

Well if you've got a bunch of 36mg and just want to test without spending a lot of cash, I have an idea;

This won't taste super but it probably won't be that bad either. go to your local drug store or mallwart or whatnot and pick up a small bottle of VG. You can then dilute your 36mg to any level you want for testing purposes. Don't mix up too much because it may not be the best vape ever. A single fill should tell you what you need to know.

Try the tank at 15watts, see how that feels. If it doesn't feel like enough power, turn it up. If you start to get a strong nicotine rush, dilute the juice a bit with some Vegetable Glycerine. Keep going until you find your sweet spot. Estimate how much VG you put in to figure out what nic level to buy.
You may find your sweet spot kinda low, but goes up as time goes on. Or not. Whatever works for you is the correct way to vape. :)

this varies greatly by personal preferance. i vape a .4ohm coil between 22 and 30 myself. Genrally i use a single coil dripper though. This is definitely a YMMV situation

Oh i completely agree. But 14 w seems too low, i doubt if the 0.4 factory coil will even be able to get hot enough to vape in a second or two. Don't you think?

Was just giving out the general idea of what people do.

Ymmv in each and ever situation and i respect that.

I think I'd start on the lowish side-- 6--12 m.g. given what you vape at now. Then, you can always add more of your higher nicotine if you aren't feeling satisfied, though the dilution ideas are also good, except that (for me) it's hard to know what feel like the right watt/nic level is if I can't taste *anything.* Also, everyone's different, so start low and work your way up. I only used 30 watts on the Cleto, and that was plenty for me, even though the coil's rated higher, I believe. Don't forget to play with your airflow too, that can make a difference.

Good luck!

i've been sub-ohming for about a month and halved my nic juice since. i've been at 6mg for a couple of years but once i started sub-ohming realized that 6mg, while low to many, was suddenly too much for me now that i'm doing reg mods and sub-ohm tanks. so i'm at 3mg now and perfectly content with that. as a starting point maybe try going to 18mg. another option is to keep your 36mg but also buy some 0 nic juice of the same flavor and pg/vg ratio and mix the two 'til you find your sweet spot.

I can't imagine vaping higher than 3-4mg in a sub-ohm tank, but I have friends that do 9-12. I still use a TFV4 tank with a quad coil rated at 0.15ohms. I've been back and forth between 0.75mg and 4mg for the past year. I seem to stick with 1.5-2 most of the time. I've added a little extra during short stints that I got stressed out and felt like I wanted to smoke.

But it's all about what works for you. I never could do anything over 9mg in my old pen vape that had a 1.8ohm coil.
