Hi all, so it is day 2 for me on E-cigs.. So far so good.. Although I ordered 40mg liquid from Vapormaxx and probably going to go out and try and find some VG to cut it down a bit... But I'm thinking of trying some DIY liquids, and somewhat surprised that all the recipes seem to rely on buying flavors from someone. I have a couple questions:

1. I noticed debate over sweeteners, and makes me wonder about things that should NOT go into juice - What about real sugar? Will that clog up the Atty? I ask not so much because I want to put sugar in, but thinking of using liquors like amerreto, kalua or Sambuca; will the sugars in those mess things up? Also thinking to smash up some cinnamon hearts and dissolve to make a nice flavor...

2. Anybody just use food flavorings? I know they are easy to find in vanilla, cherry and banana.

Thanks, I would be interested to hear about anybody's true DIY experiments.

Welcome eeMGee !
I've been mixing VG into most of the PG liquids, it does add some sweetness without being overly sweet, I like a 80pg/20vg mix. More than than that and it does tend to get a little thick, some say it does tend to clog the attys.

I got my VG at the craft store in with the cake items, but you can find larger/cheaper bottles at the drug stores. I haven't fooled to much with the liquors yet, I do think you want to have more concentrated flavors tho - have also bought some killer diy flavors from DIY Flavorshack, or again the craft stores, but be sure to get extracts and not oils if you do and STEP AWAY FROM THE SUGAR! IMO burnt carmel wouldn't be a flavor I'd be willing to try !!!

Also, if you search the forums for sweetner there is a thread on the diy liquid that has info on some additional liquid sweetners to try! Good luck and wtg on becoming a noob vaper!

You can always thin out VG w/ water. If the extracts/flavorings don't thin it out enough, then add some water.

Yep. I use Flavour Art's Velvet Cloud which is VG/H2O in a 70/30% mix.

If you do buy VG, make sure it's pharmaceutical quality. And food flavorings must not be oil-based.

Btw, 40mg is pretty darn strong! I'd definitely cut it down. I'm using 6mg so 40mg would knock me on my ....

So I'm back from my shopping excussion to try and find some Vaping stuff. When to Walmart 1st for the VG, but they were sold out... Seems to be common as I read in another post someone always finding that shelf empty... I guess DIY is catching on; these stores must be wondering what's up with all the Glycerin sales  Anyhow, I did find something hopefully usefull at Walmart; they had LorAnn flavourings in the crafts section. I hope these are the same as everyone talks about on here.. says for candy and baking 4x stronger than extracts. Some are called 'oil' but I read in another post they are not really oil. These were $2 for a pack with 2 little DRAM bottles, so I grabbed Strawberry, Cherry, Anise Oil, and Cinnamon Oil. Guess I gotta order some unflavored juice.

As a side question... anybody every order 99% pure nicotine from China? Wondering if customs would stop it into the US... Also, from a safety standpoint I think I'll start with 100mg/ml, plus the pure stuff comes in 1 litre minimum order, cut 30:1 thats 30L of juice...

So no Glycerin at Walmart, so I headed off to Walgreen's. There I found 8.5 Fl.OZ (250ml) bottle of "Africare" 100% glycerin (kosher / no animal fat / vegetarian) for $6. It does say 'not for internal use', and it isn't UPC... Hope it don't kill me!

Well time to try cutting my 40mg e-juice and see how that goes...

You can also try Whole Foods(I think there is one near you), in the skin care section. I got 16oz for $10.

if it doesn't have USP on it, i wouldn't use it and if it says not for internal use, i wouldn't use it cause when you vape, its going internal. don't mess with your lungs, they're the only ones you have

All glycerine(that I have found) says not for internal use. As for USP, as long as it is pure glycerine it should be fine.

I agree, the juice is not worth the squeeze and you're only out 6 dollars. Are there no other drugstores in your town, or did they just not pan out?

So, I mixed up 50/50 of my 40mg tobacco w/ 100% non-USP glycerine... Tastes fine, and the nicotine tingling of the straight 40mg is much reduced. I guess I would prefer if it was pharm. grade... but anyway, I don't think the ingredients in my old Palmals were pharm grade either...

Glad to hear it worked out. BTW, the whole foods glycerin is Food Grade, and a bit cheaper than you paid, if you need more.

Hi eeMGee,

I mix my own ejuice. I think sugars would NOT be good, might clog things up. I use LorAnn Flavors and some are a very different consistency, meaning thicker than others. Be sure your ejuice is not too thick. I use either a few drops of grain alcohol or distilled water to thin things out. I don’t think the alcohol will ruin it, just pay attention to the thickness. (The grain alcohol gives it a bit of a kick, and throat hit, especially for someone who no longer uses nicotine):p
