Newbie with a 901 from e cigs.co.uk

Hi, my name is katharine and i joined this forum today.
Ive been looking into e cigs for a while now and decided that it was definately a path i wanted to go down, tho had been stuck on which model would be best for a beginner.
It can get a little confusing if your new to it all!
Id narrowed it down to 2 models, the intellicig m401 or the dse 901 but finally decided on the 901.
After looking through many company websites, ive finally purchased one this morning. I got a fantastic deal from e cigs.co.uk.
Because id got the link from this site, i recieved 10% off my order, and because i was also a member, i recieved 10 free cartridges from them as well.
Really looking forward to my 901 coming, hope ive chosen the right model and pv liquid as ive heard your experience of e smoking depends on these two factors.
Bit nervous with being new to it all.
My two main concerns were 'being able to set it up right so that it works well' and im a little worried about using something regularly that is so highly toxic (incase i spill the bottle or something).
Hopefully i wont do that!
Anyway, just thought id tell you my story and say hi. I hope this is going to be the start of a new chapter in my life, without analogue's.
(sorry for rambling on a little) xx

The nic juice you get from a ready made juice supplier won't be so toxic as to kill you - it jsut isnt that high strength. It's also not pure weapons grade nic. I spill stuff on me all the time, I've swallowed some, get in my mouth all the time (rinse right away ofcourse but this stuff goes thru skin lol) and I'm still kickin' :)
Welcome to the forums btw :)

Hiya

I started with a 901 too and i loved it : o) i hope you will too...as u know probably it gives slightly more flavor than some other models like the 510 so when you switch from smoking to ecigs and are getting your tastebuds back its a good one to have...it gives a decent amt of vapor and throat hit but you will notice throat hit changes with the liquid flavors and brands you use....vapor is similar too so if u get hardly any from one liquid try another and see...

also i had the exact same question as you did when i got my 901...how to set it up so i didnt do something wrong in the first day....the advice i got ill give to you...if its unwanted or you know it already sorry...just trying to be helpful:

1.dont leave ur batteries charging for 8 hrs first time-its a myth...ur using lithum ion batteries that when you plug them in and the light turns green they are done....leaving them on for longer also wont hurt them so dont worry too much about this if u plug them in overnight...

also the only thing you may want to fiddle with when you get it is putting some tissue paper into the atomiser part where that mesh u shape is....give a blow from the screw end and itll push all the horrible tasting primer out and get your atty ready for yummier flavors : o)

put one drop on the atty after doing this...and then i fill up a cartridge(mouthpiece) with your favorite liquid...if ur not 100% sure how to do this....

take out the foamy stuff in the mouthpiece with a tweezers...drop 5-6 drops(half the cartridge) into the mouthpiece....then put the foamy polyfill back in with tweezers and continue dripping til cart is full but not pooling with liquid...make sure no strands are loose and are straggling...

oops ive probably gone into too much detail but this is all you will need to know for your fist day vaping...oops apart from...

if you get a burning taste top up your liquid...this is how you know to top up(there is a subtle hint you are running out of juice when the vapor drops off or the taste isnt so tasty anymore...but when it gets to a burnt taste add liquid...dont try and vape anymore in case you wreck your atomiser)

hope this helps...

if u wanna browse through the "sticky" forum its a forum i set up to help newcomers avoid the mistakes that older members on ecf made...hope it helps : o)

cass : o)

901 is a neat little thingy, although it is a bit too mellow for some people. I'd try it, though, it's definitely not bad.

And the liquid you get to vape is not anywhere near that dangerous as is pure nicotine, so you don't have to worry about getting a drop on your skin or so. You are bound to get that anyway, so don't panic. Just wash it off. I would not take a bath in it, but I had sticky fingers from juice where I could not wash off immediately and noticed nothing.

Hiya, thank you for all your help, its much appreciated!
Captjay and alexTM, its good to know that if used correctly i cant do myself too much damage with the liquid and that its not as potent as i first thought.
Just-cass, id welcomed your advice! Being new to this, is a little daunting!

I recieved my 901 yesterday but im sorry to say that at the moment, im not having a great deal of luck with it :-(
There's two main issues i have:

After repeatedly trying, all through the day, when smoking my e cig i get very little throat hit, if any at all. I can see the smoke that i produce, just cant feel anything.
This is a big thing for me, and im sad to say that i pretty much gave up and lit up an analogue.
Secondly, i purchased menthol ice e liquid from e-cigs.co.uk. In medium strength which is 14mg. After a few puffs, i tend to get a giddy head rush.
My regular analogue cigarettes were menthol containing 0.08mg of nicotine per cigarette.
Id thought medium strength would have suited me, but on looking at other suppliers websites, ive since found that e liquid from e-cigs.co.uk has a rather high nicotine content. There medium liquid being 14mg, other sites medium liquid being only 11mg.
Id like to be able to puff on my e cig frequently, without getting a headrush or having to worry that im actually making myself more dependent on a higher strength of nicotine than i was previously with my analogues.

At the moment im back to analogues but still very much hoping to give up!! xx

They all have a learning curve and don't sweat the ciggies, it takes time for some of us to give up even when the PV works right.
As for your 901 - I've not used that one so I can't offer any advice - have you popped down to the UK sub forums? SHould find some peeps down there to maybe set you in the right direction (theres also a 901 subforum - model specific discussion - see if I can find the link for ya)
