New here, and really glad this forum exists. Hi to anyone who's reading and sorry if I'm not caught up with Forum lingo.

New to e-cigarettes as well. Long story short: I've been smoking for 12 years, then out of the blue I went from smoking roughly a pack of Marlboro Lights a day (for 6 of the 12 years) to something like a pack a month. Cravings came back due to a heap of stressors, decided to take a friend's advice and try e-cigs. Her concerns were the usual: my health, exposing others to tobacco, analog litter, the smell, etc.

Bought a Cigavette kit (Tobacco flavored, 12mg) on a whim two weeks ago and puff on it maybe 3-5 times a day. I'm generally pleased with the taste, all the vapor & throat hit stuff, weight/appearance of it and it holds me over. I have a few concerns/questions, perhaps dumbish (sorry!), that are not addressed directly anywhere. reviews for the product are generally quite vague and all 4-5 stars, and watching videos of people vaping the brand doesn't help too much either. So, to other Cigavette users:

- Is the vapor something others can smell? For whatever reason I keep smelling something like Icy Hot minutes after I smoke. No one around me that I can ask.
- Have you found that cartridges last the amount of time expected?
- If anyone has tried 18mg and 12mg, is there any chance the 18mg is closer to Marlboro Lights in flavor? 12mg has a fruitiness to it that I can't stop smelling while on it.
- Are there any other brands of madetolooklikecigarettes that come close to Marlboro Lights in flavor?

Thanks!

Welcome to ECF! I've never seen these in person but just looked over their website. Seems to be a simple 240mAh automatic battery with cartomizer cartridges, all proprietary. Pretty slick looking starter kits! My opinion is that you might find something a little more advanced to your liking, but that really depends on your taste. Do you need it to be automatic or is a button press something you would like to avoid?

Flavor is also a pretty subjective topic and no one has really duplicated an actual tobacco flavor as the combustion contributes something to the overall flavor of a cigarette and that's the very thing we are all trying to get away from in the first place. Maybe a little more information would get some suggestions going?

iamthevoice,
I own one of the kits and it is pretty slick, a lot of things about it are more convenient than smoking.

As for your questions: a button press is something I would like to avoid. Somehow button press models still look like giant contraptions, that in this town would = idle chitchat with strangers about the "thing I'm smoking" or strange looks while I'm driving and vaping.

I opted for Cigavette over others because I read a few reviews and watched a video where others compared the flavor/taste/the vaping to smoking Marlboro Lights. The sensation is similar, but the flavor and aftertaste are completely different things. The flavor and aftertaste of the thing is like Smoking-a-fruity-clove Lights, and that lingering Icy Hot smell is still there. I don't mind the taste of the Cigavette tobacco flavor, but I was hoping it would taste a a bit more roasted or smoked? The taste is just a little flimsy. Sorry if these descriptions don't make any sense. Totally new to this.

I have looked at this brand and what I see, sadly, is just the same old poor and cheap technology made out to be something special.

It is the same the world over. Batteries that last a very short time. Cartomisers that "claim" to do unfeasible amounts of puffs. Comments like "industry standard of 2-second puffs" "10-12 puffs = one cigarette"...

We have heard it all before. It is lies and hype. These products exist purely to make money. Reviews are mostly bogus. "Likes" on social media are fake.
It's the modern world.

Get out of there. :)

Sorry to break the bad news.

Thanks for this, and no need to be sorry about breaking any bad news.

So far, the battery and cartridge life on my purchase have been as advertised, but then again, I have no real point of comparison. The short battery lasts a day and the cartridges have lasted 5 days so far. Guess I don't really use it as much as an average user may and I use it less than I would analogs. For me it beats smoking a pack of analogs a day.

I did notice that some Cigavette reviews were the same copy paste longform signed by different people and the solid 5 star rating on their website is maybe irritating--it's always the less than 5s that seem to have the most valuable input.

Totally open to any alternatives that anyone can recommend, but I would prefer something/smaller models of alternatives that don't stand out too much.

Well done, firstly, for making the switch. How many did you smoke? You say a cartomizer has lasted 5 days.... or is that multiple cartomizers?

If a battery is lasting a day, you are barely vaping at all.... impressive. :) What strength liquid?

Lots to ask, I am afraid...

I've not tried that brand but when I first started out I tried blue cigalike. For me, it was a awful experience. Batteries did not last, (I'm a heavy vaper), I couldn't get enough vapor and it left me very frustrated. I finally learned there are many many other available options. So i just wanted to tell you, if your not satisfied with the cigalike type you have so many more better options for vaping. There are all different kinds of vaping equipment. I found what got me to stop smoking and I've moved on from there. I now have plenty of battery life and vapor.just know your not stuck with just the cigalike type. It's all a matter of what you want personally. If you like the cigalike then that's great but if you don't just know you have a lot of other options.

If you're ok with the short battery life and small amount of ejuice in the cartridge/tank/whatever, then I would suggest the Joyetech eRoll; it's automatic (no button to press), has the same form factor as a regular cigarette, and you can choose your own eliquid to go in it. The taste is the hardest part for most new vapers, because a) it's very different from cigarettes because there's nothing burning, and b) it's a good bit sweeter than cigarette smoke *because* there's nothing burning, so very little bitterness -- burnt stuff is very bitter.

The smell is one of those things that's very repellant at first, but you get used to it -- I know, seems odd when you're new, smelling this, and just about gagging from the smell -- but the more you vape, the more you get accustomed to the taste, and also to the smell. It just takes time and acclimatization.

There are ejuice flavors that do mimic the smokiness, but the taste is really more like the smell of your cigarette *before* you light it -- because there's nothing burning.

Welcome!! :thumb:

Thanks for all of the replies. Going through them slowly.

I used to smoke a pack a day then slowed down drastically, having more work and distractions helped with that, but the stress and the people! are still at it.

The Cigavette 12mg/lights cartridge, one of them, has lasted 5 days, but I puff on the thing only five times a day. Once in the morning, after meals, and after dinner. The first few cartridges I went through lasted 4 days. I haven't had a problem with either of the batteries dying, and I am careful about separating the components when not in use.
