Wow, what a great forum! I've been doing a lot of reading on here and want to buy an e-cig to get off analogs. I've been smoking about 8+ cigs a day for 15 years. Lucky Strikes, Camel Turkish Royals and Djarum Cloves have been my cigs of choice.

I have started to put together an order with vapor kings:

(2) Joytech 510 e-Cigarette atomizers
(2) Rechargeable Joytech 510 pushbutton e-Cigarette lithium-ion batteries
(1) US 110VAC 510 e-Cigarette battery charger with power cord
(5) Sample cartridges - 1 each of Red & White, Chocolate, Apple, Coffee and Menthol 18mg Medium strength

(1) Joytech 510 e-Cigarette atomizers
(1) PCC
(1) Passthrough
(5) Blank Cartomizers
(1) 10ml of 18mg Turkish
(1) 10ml of 18mg Djarum
(1) 10ml of 18mg Lucky Strike

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not bad I made my first order from vapor kings good stuff fast shipping liquid is a bit over priced but it's not too bad if you want a better experience and don't mind the size difference look into the eGo/riva/tornado it's the size of a small cigar but the batt life is 4 to 5 times that of a 510 standard kit and if you plain on putting down cigarettes you will want the extra battery...

Hi and welcome to ECF. It looks like you've got the basics covered. Since you've got the PT in there it should cover you in case of battery failure. You might want to try some juice flavors that aren't tobacco. And I'd suggest at least one of them be higher nic level, like 24mg, just in case the 18mg doesn't quite do it for you.

If you like it, consider a PCC for charging on the go

The starting juices you got may be 100% PG from Chinese and if so may be a bit harsh because PG lets through the most harshness of nicotine. The 18mg PG juices eventually would make my tongue sore. So remember to drink fluids and look for similar flavors in a PG/VG blend. 70pg/30vg or 80pg/20vg and a nice balance - still decent TH and flavor but smoothed out a bit and more visible vapor. If you really like a Chinese PG juice, you could look for the VG version and mix a 30ml PG one with a 10ml VG one of the same flavor to make a 75pg/25vg blend.

Consider buying some precut blue foam stuffing for 510 from strictlyejuice.com - when the white cart stuffing gets old and cranky, try replacing it with the blue foam.

And when you are ready, try standard resistance cartomizers (not LR - they are for fat battery 510s like Ego). I like the Boge 510 soft-cap ones at LiteCigUSA.net and they also have standard resistance SLB soft-cap ones. You don't have to put juice in as often and it is less likely to leak out. They are soft caps - you pop the mouth-end cap out with an unbent paperclip, sticking it in just far enough to pop the cap out. Drip juice into the stuffing (hold the carto at an angle, off the battery, and if adding a lot hold a tissue on the threaded end). Fill it well the first time. After that, whenever the vapor seems lighter or dryer, add juice so you won't singe the stuffing and ruin it. You may get a week or more out of a cartomizer. Whenever I add juice I make sure the threaded end is dry and clean then puff into the threaded end a few time to make sure the air channel is clear. You might need to let it sit for a bit to let the juice distribute,

With the atomizer and carts (what the 510 comes with), drip juice into the stuffing until it soaks in and looks damp but not a puddle on top. Whenever the vapor seems light or dry or the atty is getting too hot, check the cart. Always push on and pull off the cart - do not twist. And try to line the juice cup up this way with the atty bridge:

Thanks for the suggestion about the battery time. That was a concern of mine so I put the charger, PCC and PT in my order. I don't want to be sitting there having a nic fit and waiting for a light to turn green. I'll give the 510 a go for about a month or so, maybe even less, then pick up an eGo/riva/tornado. Who do you suggest for liquids?

Good suggestion. I'm going to order some juice elsewhere and get a range of nic levels. Who do you suggest for liquids?

Great response and tips! I went ahead and put in the order above but added a drip tip to it. I'm going to order some standard resistance cartomizers at LiteCigUSA.net and some precut blue foam stuffing for 510 from strictlyejuice.com today. I like to tinker and modify things so I think this is going to be fun. Who do you suggest for liquids? I'd like to follow your suggestion and have some options on hand.

Anything I need to do to break the 510 in or what are the first things I should do when I get it?

Everyone has their favorite juice suppliers. I've been using VaporBomb lately for most of my juices. I also use Litecigusa.net for some flavors, especially their High Caliber line and the one Dekang tobacco flavor that's a favorite of mine. If possible try to order from a couple of different vendors. The more variety you get in the beginning, the more likely you'll find something that works for you.

I lived in MN for many, many years. You have had a tough winter up there this year.

Paula

Yes, lots of snow this year and just when it looked like it was going to start warming up, more snow.

O.K. I ordered a few more things and have started poking around at VaporBomb. Thanks for the help!

Ordered from strictlyejuice:
5 Blue Foam Cartridge Filler (10pk)
1 Kona Coffee Banana 10 ml - 24 mg (High)
1 Butterscotch Candy 10 ml - 24 mg (High)

Ordered from litecigusa:
2 510 BOGE SOFT CAP Blank Cartomizers (5pk)
1 Fennel Liquid 16mg
1 Dr.Pep/Pepper Liquid 16mg
1 Djarum Black/DJRUm Liquid 24mg
1 High Caliber Apple - 18mg

BTW - PT - You want a PT-capable USB to AC or get yourself a good 2amp 4-port Rosewill USB to AC travel model at Newegg (they no longer sell the US_only model). I use one of those at home and one at work. You could then either use the PT on it (a PT may need up to 2 amps by itself) OR charge up to 4 batteries on it (assuming the cable type adapters which will fit next to each other easily in the small space - I actually use a thicker no-cable battery adapter in the end slot and 3 cable types in the rest)

Do not run a PT off a PC's USB or a 500mA battery charger AC to USB.

Good choice on the cartos and the blue foam

first, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your decision to get off analogs. You can do it.

As it comes to the kit, i began about a couple of months ago.. and found myself making a list like yours, and a lot of reading and comparisons.
I like the 510 too.. and got the Riva, which comes with a larger battery.
See just by changing the model, i was able to avoid buying and carrying a complete piece of equipment, a PCC.
I too had been just a 5 analog smoker and the batt on a Riva lasts me for around 3-4 days on a single charge. And with two batts that come with the kit, i'm sometimes good for a week before i have to recharge.. and this is when now after having quit analogs, i'm now tending to vape more than i ever smoked. Since the whole activity is so effortless, you'd kinda slip into the indulgence like a pacifier, mostly with zero nic.

Your list looks pretty good though.

I received my kit on Friday. I started by filling up a carto with the Lucky Strike juice I ordered. I took my first puff and exhaled. My first thought was I'm totally sold on this! Yesterday was a pretty good test of using the 510 during a whole day with a lot of traveling. I had 2 batteries and a PCC with me. I didn't run into any problems and found that one charged battery lasted me most of the day before I had to switch to the one in the PCC. I have dripped a couple of the non-tobacco flavours and found them to be o.k. for the most part, but for now I keep going back to the Lucky Strike and the Djarum Black juice. I have more juices on the way and did order a couple of 510 XL batteries.

Thanks again for the advice and tips. I'm very pleased with my 510!

So glad it is working for you! Anything is better then smoking. You might get a laugh at this, but I started with the same Joye 510 model, and the batteries lasted me 15 minutes :) I'm very glad you're a light smoker, my first couple of weeks I found menthol to be my favorite, it actually made me feel like I had just had a smoke, that and it was the only thing I could actually taste. I smoked 3-5 packs a day when I quit, and most days were closer to 5. I chain VAPE 24MG juice. My wife smoked maybe 10-18 cigarette a day, and she chain vapes 36MG it's different for everyone, congratulations again, and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

I didn't see the part about the 510 Mega batteries, good choice. Chain vaping they would last me between 1-3 hours depending, you will like them ALOT. I still use them, I ended up vaping from a Joye Ego Tank (for the amount I VAPE it looked like the least amount of work for the money) I Cary three fully assembled with me all day, but I still Cary two Joye 510Mega's filled with 36MG for those times when I'm REALLY craving a smoke. You'll love the mega's and the bigger atomizers/cartridges that they xome with. I sometimes could VAPE one of the bigger carts for up to an hour, depending on how much the wicking material cooperated.

I don't agree with that. When you first start it's best to vape for about 2 weeks to give your taste buds and throat a chance to adjust. Then you can begin your quest.

I agree to disagree. I think it's best to get at least a few flavors and strengths when first starting, a sampler pack with a bunch of small bottles is a great way to go. If you're stuck using one or two juices that you don't like you're just out of luck until you can reorder. Likewise with nic strength. You don't know where on the spectrum you'll fall when it comes to your nic level so getting some juices in 12, 18 and 24 mg will probably give you something that will quell the nic monster.

That being said, you are correct in that taste will change so I understand your point. But I think having a supply of different flavors on hand is the best route to take. That's my opinion, and you're entitled to your own.

That's the advice I went with and I'm glad I did. I've purchased juices from a couple recommended vendors, a few different flavors. I had three 18mg juices with my 510 order and really liked the Lucky Strike. I noticed that I was constantly vaping so when one of my other orders arrived I tried the 24mg and that level seems to match up with what I'm used to with analogs. I vape about as much as I smoked. So I figure I'll use 24mg when I get the urge for an analog and use 18mg when I want to kick back and have a nice long relaxing vape. I do seem to like the tobacco flavors but did get some non-tobacco flavors as suggested. The non-tobacco flavors are a nice break from the tobacco and have a soothing or cleansing feeling to the system and palate.
