Smoked for about 32 years. The last 4-5 years I was up to 2 packs a day. I tried vaping about 5 years ago for about a week and it didn’t take. I dual used the entire time. Wrong set up, wrong juice, was really just curious and not really thinking about quitting.

Decided I was going to give it another go last Saturday evening so I read a ton of quit stories for motivation - some on here. I got a lot of inspiration from what I read so I thought I’d leave my quit story (so far) for anyone thinking of vaping to quit smoking. I hope it’s okay to list my new set up as that was something I questioned when I was researching vaping. Still pretty new to this so it’s not going to be a technical description.

I bought 2 mods (Swag kit and a Voopoo Drag with a Wake tank), and multiple 6mg ejuices for the mods. Excessive and totally unnecessary, but I’m not regretting it at all.

Sunday - Smoked a 1/2 pack and did not want to smoke more. No cravings.

Monday - Smoked 5 cigarettes. 3 in the morning, 1 after work and one in the evening. A few cravings - all while I was at work and can’t really vape (definitively not with a mod).

Tuesday - Smoked 5 cigarettes. Same routine with the cigs and same cravings. That evening I bought a Baton with 2 pods and a couple of 25mg ejuices with nic salts, but I didn’t use it till Wednesday.

Wednesday - Smoked 4 cigarettes, by 8am. Started using the Baton with the nic salts at 11am. NO CIGARETTES since 8am Wednesday!!!! No cravings either.

The combo of the devices works for me. I use the mods mostly and only use the Baton when I’m at work and only use it a couple of times. I am amazed at how easy it has been to put down the cigarettes.

Physical changes I’ve noticed in a week: No nicotine cravings/do not want to smoke cigarettes at all, the congestion I always had is gone as of yesterday, I can breathe much deeper, I don’t smell like an ashtray and I’m just happier.

Awesome! Have you tried LOW DOSE nic salts in a mod?

Nope. Just figured out what nic salts are and didn’t know they come in lower doses. Everything I saw or was recommended was a higher % for the pods. I will check this out for sure. Thanks!

I figured the pods release a lot less vape or none if I do it right and if I vape in the car at work people won’t notice or complain about it. I get not wanting people to smoke and I was always respectful of that, but vaping in my car shouldn’t be an issue, but weirdly for some people it would be.

Hurray! So glad to see you didn't make the all-too-common mistake of cheaping out on your equipment.

As much as I was spending on cigs I’ll recoup the vape expenses pretty quick.

The guy at the vape shop was incredibly helpful. I was overwhelmed by everything I read and he recommended the things I got. I did get the VooPoo because I thought it was pretty.

Welcome to the forums.Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking.
A side note:

You are using 6mg/ml this equals 0.6% percentage.

The same here,25mg/ml equals 2.5%

I had no clue what you were talking about, but I get it now. Yes .6% and 2.5%. Still getting the hang of the terminology. TBH this is what I found intimidating in my research. I had no clue what people were talking about most of the time. Will edit my post if I still can.

Its a common mistake, and things get confusing, as quickly as they change, too...
As for low mg salts, they are coming out slowly. I make my own. I thought it was going to be complex, with lots of posts saying you couldn't get this flavor or that right without combining. Flavorless tastes like a Marlboro ultra light to me, BTW. Sort of a marshmallow without the vanilla, if that makes any sense.

I’ll definitely keep an eye out for them, but I’m on vape juice buying restrictions at the moment. I went kind of coo coo and have a ton. 12 bottles-6mg, and 3 bottles-25mg with nic salt. Somehow I ended up with a bottle of 3mg and a bottle of 35mg with nic salt too (not sure how that happened, but it’s all good). I didn’t want to run out and I wanted a variety of flavors.

Welcome to the friendly bunch :)

Congratulations for the brave effort to give up the death sticks. It's one of the pluses that the good effects show up quite quickly...when you've smoked for so long you don't realise how bad your breathing has got :)

One piece of advice...don't be afraid to up your nic level a bit. I started on 18 mg/ml and that was 5 years ago and I still do the same now...i found i needed that strength to get rid of the nic cravings but don't forget there are other things that take some effort too. What I mean is it is still something you need to be determined about even if your nic levels are correct...

Keep up the good work....might save your life :)

We all have gone a little bit "coo coo" buying needless vape gear starting out. It's Pavlovian when using tobacco. Whatever works for you is going to pay off more then 10 fold in the future. Welcome to the club of members who get it.

I think I’m going to be able to do this! The support from this forum and my new BFFs at the vape shop is unbelievable.

The only time it’s been weird for me so far is first thing in the morning. It’s not a craving nicotine weirdness (I don’t because I just vape). It’s more of a habit/routine thing. This morning I found myself instinctively reaching for a lighter that wasn’t there and was like wtf am I doing?!?! I really thought driving in the car was going to be the biggest trigger, but it’s been a complete nonissue.
