This wasn't directed at anyone in particular. If you go back through the threads you'll see way back when that I said we meet in Lexington and no one from Lexington shows up - that's why we quit doing it. This has been proven historically time and time again. Maybe it's something in the weather, I don't know. What I do know is that when we schedule meetings in Louisville, people from Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, Henderson, etc. actually show up. When we meet in Lexington, we waste gas, and no one local shows up. It's not my opinion, it's fact. I thought this time would be different, we had a lot of chatter on the forum from people saying "I'll be there!" "looking forward to it!" etc., and when the meeting happened, nobody showed up. We were there for seven hours, it boggles my mind that Lexington people couldn't find 20 minutes in their day to drop by and say "hi" somewhere in that seven hour time span, especially after we gave two months notice.
I understand all that. I was merely commenting on the fact that other people did show up but there seems to be an idea of either Lexington or Louisville being the only meeting places. I am, frankly, surprised that no one from Lexington has ever attended a meeting held in Lexington--but practicality has to be taken into account here and that suggests even to me that it's not necessarily a good decision to hold meetings in Lexington. But there are more than two cities in Kentucky
Like I said, this isn't an attack or anything, we had some regulars missing due to illness in the family and etc., but we didn't have one single solitary person from Lexington show up to the Lexington meeting that we gave two months notice for. It's simply not worth the effort for all of the rest of us to drive to Lexington to meet with the Lexington people who don't even make it to the meeting, it downright isn't worth it, I'm sorry, but it isn't.
And this last sentence is what prompted my little rant. There is less "effort" involved for people from Harrodsburg and Frankfort to attend a meeting in Lexington than to attend one in Louisville, regardless of the lack of Lexingtonian attendance. Saying "it is not worth the effort for
all the rest of us to drive to Lexington" seems a bit disingenuous to me since it is "easier" for people from Harrodsburg and Frankfort to get to Lexington than to Louisville. That statement tells me you are trying to convince me it is "easier and cheaper" for me to drive twice as far to Louisville than to Lexington. I can go to Lexington, drive around all day shopping, and get home on a quarter tank of gas. It takes me almost a half a tank just to get to Bowman Field and back, and that's never leaving the highway or actually getting into the city.
I understand the decision not to hold meetings in Lexington if Lexingtonians will not attend--especially if some
do make it to the Louisville meetings. And I understand that the convenience of Louisvillians who attend the meetings outweighs the convenience of non-Louisvillians who attend the meetings if the numbers are skewed as much as I believe they are. But to say that Louisville is more convenient for the people from Harrodsburg or Frankfort is simply untrue.
I also understand that Louisville is
a lot more convenient for the people who actually organize the events--and this is a practicality that takes a
lot of precedence over other considerations. I was merely suggesting that since the effort was made to give Lexington one last chance, perhaps sometime in the future another city could be given a chance. One that has proven to have regular attendees, as a sort of token gesture.
I really did want to make this meeting since I am one of the people who's mentioned Lexington would be more convenient for me than Louisville. Unfortunately I have also mentioned that the timing is bad for me as well. In this case the timing was still the clincher since I had to get up at 4:00 Friday to pick up the daughter from her after-school program, take care of her, fix dinner, then go to work, get home at 7:30 Saturday morning and watch the daughter while mama goes to work. The wife did get home early yesterday, about 3:00, but by that point I'd already been up 23 hours, wasn't sure if the meeting would still be going on by the time I could get there around 4:30 or so--and have never been able to eat at Chili's. I was disappointed to not make it, but I am also used to missing out on a lot. I'm old enough that I was raised not to expect the world to revolve around me, but since the effort
was made to hold a meeting more convenient for me I really
did feel an obligation to show appreciation by attending. I did not manage to do so, and that is another reason I do not feel my opinions should carry very much (if any) weight in the matter.
I am not asking for another meeting in Lexington. I am not even asking for a meeting in another city. I was merely pointing out that Louisville is not more convenient than Lexington for people from Harrodsburg or Frankfort (the other two cities you said had attendees show up)

TLDR: I did not take your post as an attack and I apologize for giving that impression
