Next mod purchase up : Convince Me

OK, OK, I can see that while I have ditched one form of illness : smoking cigarettes, I seem to have acquired another (mental) illness to compensate : Shinyitis.
Now, there are many mods and tanks that I eventually want to have in my inventory, including a Provari (Going to wait for the P3), a REO Grand, and some sort of Kayfun rba tank, those aren't on the slate right now.

Here is what is ... I've narrowed Mod choices down to these, and yes, I am aware that One of these things is not like the others (Nemesis clone) and is a mech mod.

The choices:

A. The Innokin Itaste 134 full size
B. The Itaste VTR
C. The Itaste MVP 2.0
D. The Vamo V5
E. The Nemisis Clone

Right now, while I'm not thrilled about the idea of rebuiling coils and such, I need something I can attach an RDA to for the sole purpose of tasting e-fluids, not so much blowing clouds. I intend to primarily be using my tanks, but the biochemist in me, needs to be able to taste juice blends without creating an entire tank of vomit flavor.

Ok, ... GO!

Nice Post!
The MVP gets a lot of great reviews. long battery and good formfactor. Though, not sure if you will be happy with it coming from a provari.
Building coils in your rda above 1.4 should be fine on most of the mods you mentioned i believe, but I'd say stay away from the nemi for comparing your flavor - you will get a different vape as the battery dies. also, personally I find its a pain to have a mech as a secondary device because i can never remember what the charge on the battery was when I left it last - so I have to pull the battery and slap it on a battery tester to make sure I dont overdraw the battery...

And a plain direct drip Atty you would recommend would be...?

Examples are listed in the blog. I like the 306 (which has eGo threading), but it requires a special drip tip, but a 510 works just as well.

This is just one vendor:

510 Atomizers

I prefer these types of attys for tasting juice, since it less involved than switching flavors in an RDA.

ETA: Ciscos are nice. I use them on my bottom-feeder mods, but a bit pricy (in my opinion) for simple juice tasting.

Other than what seems to be complete randomness, what criteria do you have for selecting a mod? :D You have a disposable in that bunch and also a mechanical. Some are box mods, others aren't.

Any of these will work - they're just battery holders and play no part in how your juice will taste. It's all in the tank.

The criteria is "which next?" as this is more a list of mods I plan on owning, than a criteria.

And easy on the "tank" stuff, that will be another thread entirely.

Thread TLDR...

If you are looking for a great vaping device then based on your selection I would say you need to bite the bullet and get a REO. I went through all kinds of APVs but as soon as I started using a REO they all started collecting dust.

It's that good.

Mind you, I will eventually be getting one, ... AFTER I can find a juice blend I really really like. For that I need a rapid change ability to test subtle juice alterartions, not something I can fill a whole bottle up with and find out it tastes like vaped vomit.

The HH 357 atomizer.

I had one but the RDAs are better for me. HH 357 is you can drip a couple drops taste, rinse, blow dry and test again.

HH.357 Cisco Spec Hybrid 510 Atomizer - Avid Vaper

The HH357 is a great atty, and Cisco will rebuild it for the price of shipping if ever it needs it - but I personally would start with a regular 510 atomizer like the ones Ocelot posted or something from Kidney Puncher

I'd put those long barrels up against the HH357 for vapor and flavor and at only $6 (shipping is about $3) they are inexpensive enough that if you burn one out, you won't be too disappointed. Saying that, I used to dry burn these things like crazy and I've never popped a coil or burned one - all of them have lasted me months.

If I am using an itaste vv 3, should I get the 1.5 or 2.0 ohms for testing juice? Thank you for your help.

Trouble is you kind of need to intertwine the topper choice with your choice of batteries.

My opinion of your list is... none of them save for maybe the mech.

The 134:
Outdated. 15w max and while it looks cool, it is much like the SVD in that the button sucks and seems to have a high failure rate.

MVP:

11w disposeable device. Good for what it is but not great should you want to step ip into rebuild able toppers.

Regulated devices are taking giant leaps forward rapidly. The hana clones are not much more expensive than a mvp now. 50w box mods are here and less than $100.

Time to update the list unless you can buy your list for 50% of current prices.

The vamo is solid for cheap if you buy it cheap. Recently focal cig had em for $20. Perfect. Not worth much more than that but I have one. It is a good 15w device that wont break my heart or wallet when it dies.

Yeah, I admit, this one is for the look.

You can't use RDAs on an MVP? Or just you can't use it with low Ohm builds?

I'm not really sure just what the point is in over say 15W. I mean HOW much better is vaping at 20, or 30W vs 15W? Please explain.

The choices:

A. The Innokin Itaste 134 full size
B. The Itaste VTR
C. The Itaste MVP 2.0
D. The Vamo V5
E. The Nemisis Clone

My :2c: fwiw:

A. The itaste 134 is clown shoes. The reason is that it's a huge, unpocketable SVD at 4X the price and it lacks the SVD's more nuanced power settings. It's a novelty vape at best.

B. Itaste VTR is almost clown shoes. I think it's too big, too heavy, too expensive and lacks versatility. Also, you'll have to mod it or extend it (thus defeating the purpose) to get it to work with your RDA and/or a kayfun (see below). I know some like them but there are way better options in my opinion.

Side note: If you have the cash to spend on a 134 or VTR, you should really have a look at the ipv box mods which are receiving stellar reviews. Way more bang for your buck with the ipv mods at this point. More importantly, an IPV would rock your RDA.
iPV 35 Watt Box Mod - Eciggity
iPV2 50 Watt Box Mod - Eciggity

C. Itaste MVP 2 is one of the best values out there. The MVP 2 will provide you with a very clean power signal comperable to higher-end mods, huge battery capacity in a small form factor and reliability/durability--for $40!!! This mod is the perfect companion if you travel, especially internationally because you can charge it via usb and there's no need to haul your batteries and charger. It's a swiss army knife for the average vaper. The obvious limitation is that it only goes to 11w--which sucks if you're powering a dual coil RDA. The fact that you want to run an RDA for the foreseeable future is what makes stepping up to the ipvs so appealing.

Side note: I'm actually an Innokin fan, believe it or not. I own the SVD and the MVP 2, and the MVP 2 is the superior device except for the 11w limitation.

D. I would immediately pass on the vamo 5. I own a Vamo and the power output is dirty, the build quality is poor and the 510 threading is, well, delicate. Whereas my SVD and MVP have both stood up to a year of abuse and look and operate like new, my Vamo was trashed within a couple months.

E. I would also pass on the Nemesis clone unless you're picking up one of those $10 jobs. The nemesis is so December 2013. It's a good mod and there are good clones out there, but there are now many many other options. If you're new to mechs, a stainless steel stingray with floating center pin will be easier to set up--and it comes with a magnetic switch. My Gnome clone with recessed magnetic switch is probably my favorite. Shop around and get back to us if you decide to go mech.

Ok, ... GO!

Rebuilding is easy. I'm not handy and it took me about 20 mins to figure out. Your flavor will radically improve by moving to a rebuildable kayfun and they will look really nice on your 22m mech or MVP. Here are some good prices on quality kayfun lite + clones, one by ehpro (probably the best) and one by infinite (damn close, and comes with the nano kit):

Kayfun Lite Plus V2 Dual Airflow Clone by EHPro
$30.40 Infinite Kayfun Lite Plus V2 Style 4.5ml Rebuildable Atomizer kit (4.5ml) -

Conclusion: 1) Have a hard look at the IPVs, 2) shop around for mech clones that float your boat (they're only $20 or so) 3) pick up a couple kayfuns.

Again, my :2c: but I hope that helps! Good luck! :vapor:
