I have a Bulli A2-T and would like to get some back-up wire for replacing coils, I've found several sites that sell it in small quantities, I'd rather buy a spool but I don't know what specs to look for. Most sites list ohms per feet and gage. I don't know how to convert this to what I need to make a 2.5-3.0 ohm coil. Which is better, nichrome or kanthal? Also, I'd like to buy some replacement stainless steel mesh for the wicks, anyone have a good site in the USA that sells it by the square foot. I understand that 400 mesh is what I would need, anyone know the correct alloy as I've seen several. Thanks.

For the SS Mesh, you can get it for $20 a sheet at mcmaster-carr. Look for part # 85385T885

Kanthal is better than ni-chrome, because of its higher temp rating. There is a link to get a spool of Kanthal cheap on eBay. Most are using 32ga. For regular Ni-Chrome you can also get that on mcmaster-carr with part #8880K83

Its not the cheapest place but they have it and it gets to you via UPS in at most 2 days.

For ss mesh, I ordered overseas, they sent me 5 sheets when I only bought 2. They say buy one get one free, but guess you get more. The Mesh Company (Warrington) Ltd Ultra Fine 400 Mesh its cheap also.

Kanthal is pretty strong stuff, I like it better then the nichrome in terms of durability. Whats important is the gauge (awg). 32 kanthal is about all I'm using, because I want as many wraps as possible in the coil for the increased surface area.

Kool. I hope this 32 gage is thicker than that stuff that's in commerical cartos - just for to get my feet wet here, I tried a 'Genesis' knock-off carto rebuild and tried to wrap that .... in a coil - I'm telling you, I could not do it. It's too freaking TINY!
Only my experience here.... so far. But I'm not a quitter (unless it comes to ananog ciggies).

32 awg is a LOT thicker. I'm guessing the comercial stuff is 40 awg or something close. I've actually been trying to find some 28 or 30 awg kanthal a-1, not having a lot of luck yet though. Build one "Super Coil" that lasts forever and dry burn it every night to brand new condition.

kenthal wire

30 awg = 0.25mm @ 0.7 Ohm / in

28 awg = 0.32mm (which he doesn't sell) but 0.30mm @ 0.48 Ohm / in and 0.35mm @ 0.35 Ohm / in

Spruce up your Bulli A2T or Bulli A2

It all depends on the space you have to work in. I got 10 tightly wrapped coils in the link provided that is about all I could get, maybe one more wrap and in metered @ 1.8 Ohm using the 30Awg or 0.25mm kanthal. A lower gauge may not get you there.

Ah, thats Kanthal D also, not A-1 also. I'm guessin the ohms/ft is lower on the D then the A-1. 4 1/16 wraps on my coils gets me 2.6 ohms. Was aiming for about 6-8. gotta research some specs and differences between the a-1 and D Kanthal. I've got a bunch of nichrome and kanthal, but there is a "mystery" wire I got with one of the used rebuildables I got. That wire is NASTY tasting, super harsh, horrible wire that I had to dump over 3ml of juice and burn to get it vapable. I just assumed this was Kanthal D, and would never buy any of it.

Really think A-1 is the best, this weekend I'm going to make a 1.5 ohm coil and slam it with 6 volts and see how long it takes to blow 8)

Testing limits !! I keep one Iatty assembled to keep vaping on, its over a month old now. It won't die! Hard to not be curious about what kind of real punishment they will take. I pump 7 volts through that 32 awg A-1 coil everynight, just hold the button down till it burns all the carbon off. Could never do this with the comercial attys. Nextel wick never burns, so the juice becomes the limiting factor in how much power you can actually vape through the atty. 2nd Iatty I'm trying to master the SS mesh wick (which I'm failing repeatedly to consistently oxidize).

Have you back to back tested the Kanthal D vs A-1 Switched?

I'm kinda new to this mesh thing - I did get the link to the store in UK that sells the #400 ultra fine stuff - which I will shortly be purchasing. Am I right in saying that when you cut the stuff 1" x 1,6" and roll it for the wick that you hold it over a flame first before rolling to 'oxidize' it?
Thanking all y'all in advance for response(s)!

Like I said don't know what the delta is. I got the wire that came with the bulli, + the wire I bought from the posted link. Works for me so discontinued searching.

Hey Stownz - how about this one: For $63,30 you get Kanthal A1, Kanthal, Alloy 875, Resistohm 145, Aluchrom 0, Alchrome 875, MWS-875, Stablohm 875
Is this what you're looking for?
The link for this stuff - and you pick the AWG is: Resistance Wire.Com | Nickel Chrome, Nickel Copper, and Iron Chrome Aluminum Alloys from Stock
Hope this is what you wanted. I also found some 36 AWG on Amazon.com from some cat sells resistance wire as well...

You roll it first then oxidize the part the coil is wrapped on. I have been wrapping the coil on the SS wick first and then oxidizing that part with the coil on it. Dipped in tap water and heated red hot three times works for me. Once you go to SS wick you never go back. They are reusable over and over again.
