nichrome vs kanthal

I need a rebuild wire, whitch is better kanthal or nichrome 28 and 30awg. Does it really matter. Thanks in advance.

Most people prefer Kathal or nichrome but both are fine. I can sometimes taste the metal with nichrome especially the 28 ga. I never taste metal with Kanthal. Nichrome takes a little more length to get the same ohms as Kanthal.

I prefer Nichrome, there is a bit of a metallic taste for about the first 3mls, but then it levels off.
It might just be the Kanthal that I got, but it seemed a bit stiffer than the nichrome. Wasn't quite as easy to work with.

I use 32/34 guage though, might be different than 28.
