I'm looking to buy a spool of wire to use for rebuilding. I can see several options for nichrome (on amazon), but I'm a little confused at the nickel/chrome ratios. I've seen 60/40, 55/45, for instance. They all say heater wire, but the ratios are the part I'm not sure about..

Which blend performs the best? Is there a difference? Should I even worry about it? :)

Most people use Kanthal A-1 wire (usually 32awg). Check on eBay.

Jacobs has nichrome 60, and PnJ Resources has nichrome 80.

I haven't tried all of them; but I don't think one has any great advantage over the others.

Nichrome does have lower resistance per inch compared to the same size Kanthal.
