Is there some magical trick to making Nickel and Temperature control actually work worth anything?
So far, with every single nickle coil I've ever built it's never tasted right, not a single time.
It either tastes like cotton, light dry hit or makes me want to vomit.

No hotspots either, it won't burn the cotton, it will give it a very light brown tinge

Different rda's, different RTA's, different mods, different batteries, I've tried it on a few setups.
Got Nickel coils for the Atlantis and tried those, same thing. tastes like excrement.
I've tried from 350F to 500F, 30W to 70W

When you wrap your own coils are you making sure to thoroughly clean the Ni200 with alcohol? This is definitely a must.

Its also possible you're one of the people who Ni200 tastes 'off' to, i've never noticed a difference between nickel and kanthal but others report nickel has a 'different' taste.

Most who say nickel has a taste solve their problem by using titanium wire instead, though if your mod doesn't have a Ti setting you will need to reduce temp settings and experiment a bit to dial in the vape.

Best of luck!

Guess first off is where did you get your Nickel wire from? Mine I notice no taste. As for Atlantis coils everyone is getting horrible taste from them. I have had people bring me whole packs because of horrible taste and want me to rebuild them. The worst ones are the .3 coils from Aspire. Unvapable in my opinion. When I rebuild them they are fine. I use NI200 from Lightning Vapes. CHEERS!

Really? I was never told that but, I have had some taste off to me and some not from the same spool........could you show me some threads on this? Would be greatly appreciated. I could not find any here yet.

I've hated the taste of Nickel since the first time i've tried it. It does seem to be dirty ... hell compared to other types of wire. I wiped it with 91% alcohol before i build with it. It still tasted terrible to me. .I've heard friends tell me they love the taste of it and that with Nickel wire you can taste undertone flavors and flavors of the juice you've never been able to taste before..... and that may be true but my problem was i couldn't taste the flavor of my juices that i had grown to love.! Maybe you should try NiFe or Ti

No threads to link really, just natural to assume that there will be some leftover oil/residue from the manufacturing/drawing of the wire itself. Also have seen a few people mention solving an off taste by cleaning their wire.

Same situation with Kanthal but most fresh kanthal builds are dry fired inititially (not really ideal with Ni) so it burns any residue off.

I clean my Ni200 while i 'work harden' it by pulling it through an alcohol soaked rag.

Normally spaced coils, the only ones I've ever been able to "Tolerate" vaping are micro coils that I made glow a bit and made like I would with Nichrome, but I hear you aren't suppose-to do that.
Atomizers: Freakshow Mini, Magma clone, Derringer clone, Holy Grail clone, Goblin, Goliath V2, Bellus, Atlantis V2, Triton
Mods: Heatvape Invader Mini, Snowwolf 200w
it's 28 gauge ni200, MKWS brand that I bought at a local store when the TC stuff all first came out and everyone was raving about it.
I've tried to rebuild Atlantis coils with it too, but no luck there(No luck with the Triton ""Rebuildable"" coil, then again that thing is a POS and the designer should be forced to eat them)

Yeah I suppose. I never really thought of that with kanthal like you mentioned. I always dry burned mine. So what type of alcohol would you recommend?

i would use 91% rubbing alcohol it's stronger. You'd be surprised at all the oil and black crap you'll see come off the Ni wire. I always just took a paper towel folded it in half squirted some 91% on it and wipe the wire with it. Its crazy how much residue comes off that wire.. It did help with taste a little for me but i still just DO NOT like building with Nickel. Too soft and the taste? Forget about it!
