Nico Stick DIY issue.

Hey guys.

It's my first thread/post here,but I've been browsing ECF for some time.
I'm thinking about building a NicoStick(the 2 AA case version).
The things I've got already :
-the case Battery holder: 2 x AA Covered Battery Holder with On-Off Switch - RoHS Compliant
-2 TrueFire protected 3.7 v 145000 batteries[not sure if it's TrueFire or TrustFire,I'm too lazy to get up and check]
-TrueFire charger[not sure if it's TrueFire or TrustFire,I'm too lazy to get up and check]
-some mid-end Clearomizer,I don't remember the manufacturer though,it's not some crap that's what I'm sure

So the thing is I couldn't find the cartomizer connector,so I came up with this idea.(See pic. 1)

The Clearomizer is 510 IIRC and the part that would be inside the Stick is a 401(again,IIRC - They DO fit though)
that I'd cut in half and gutted the crap out(only the wire in the center left) so I can solder pos/neg wires to it.The thing is,will it work?I'm sure it conducts current after all.

Secondly,I couldn't find a microswitch,so the question is : will it work with the On/Off switch included with the case?

it will work with the on/off switch but it is going to be a hell get used to it and i think your switch will not last too long......... I see you are in Poland, i have not idea where to find a push in switch ...... do you have a Radio Shack in there ? I know ordering on line is going to be very expensive due to the shipping cost

Hmm...the thing is there are shops like this,but they close down really early,like 2 PM or so and they're closed on weekends in my city(even though it's few hundred k's of population).I've got school on Monday and probably won't find time to get it that soon.I plan to use the original on/off switch only as a temporary option,I'll eventually change it.
What about the connection thingy?Any ideas?

about the connection if they make a proper match and the inner part touch each other it is great, dont forget to add a led and a resistor if you can , it helps you know your mod is working although that is not a must......... i was using the Nico stick for a long time

one more thing try to seal your 401 cartomizer end or you will be pulling too much air while vaping

Bah,I've been so busy lately that I'd forgotten to post the pics and present you the NicoStick for the lazy.



Even though I had all the tools needed and stuff,my variation of the NicoStick was done with no tools at all,under 10 minutes.
I removed the battery connectors (not gonna explain everything ,because it's so obvious anyone can figure out ) and replaced one of them.Then I just took some wires and extended the original ones just in case.
I didn't really bother with soldering the wires[I just twisted the positive and sticked the negative under the carto connector] and gluing all the stuff.
I know it doesn't look that well,but it works after all,had no problems yet.

If any newbie's got a question,feel free to ask,I'll be glad to answer.

do you know that you can make a new one and replace the battery with a USB cable and you will be vaping at volts ? i use it when i am doing low nic juice

Actually,the wires I used there were gutted from a USB wireless keyboard receiver,I've gotta take a look if it's still of any use.Thanks for the tip,I'll surely post some pics and inform you guys how it works out,if I manage to make it.

Btw,there are 4 wires in the USB cable IIRC,2 for data streaming (pos,neg),grounding and a positive.What do I do with the other ones?Gut them out completely and secure[tape] them or just leave them be and tape them?

+ USB voltage is somewhere around 5 V IIRC,is there really much difference between 4.2(3.7) and 5 V?Never had a chance to test one.

you dont need the data cable, about the difference between 3.7 and 5 volt is real notable but as I said b4 i only use the 5 volts on low nic

Another thing to be careful with when using a USB passthrough ... most USB ports on computers offer relatively low amps when compared with what is needed for powering a PV. It is generally recommended to use a "wall wart" - an AC adapter with a USB connection - rated for 2A or greater; or a powered USB hub. Using a USB PT plugged directly into a computer's USB port supposedly runs the risk of pulling too many amps through the port and possibly damaging the motherboard.

Tom is right, i always use a wall to USB adapter or my Car's 12 volts to usb , never the computer, too much money on risk for a 5 volts vape
