Now you are arguing that the Propaganda Doesn't MatterWhatever you say VNeil.
I wish I could buy into your Fahrenheit 451 view that all we need to do is Remove the Words to Remove the Concept. But I think that is just Wishful Thinking.
Perhaps if things were going to be Decided by a Majority Vote of the General Population, and if Taxes, BT Profits and Political Gains could be removed from the Equation, I could give some of your Ideals more Credence.
But we ALL Know this isn't the Way this is Going to be Decided.
Right?
Now your argument is getting silly.0 is less than 1. -1 is less too.
And you refuse to answer my previous question... why are you tenaciously hanging on to harm reduction rather than adopt the factual "no known harm" that I suggest?0 is less than 1. -1 is less too.
Now you are arguing that the Propaganda Doesn't Matter
Propaganda matters a lot when a government wants to convince it's citizens that...
1. It should tax certain products at 50-100-500% rates. Because it is "sinful"
2. It should severely restrict the behavior of it's citizens. For example where they can vape. Or what vape products they can buy
And item 2 is particularly important because as our culture rushes towards a global "no smoking" policy, vaping is being swept along with it. And governments are doing this by equating vaping to smoking. Pure propaganda.
No, *you* said that the propaganda doesn't matter. You said the words don't matter, that the gov't will do what it wants anyway. Read what you wrote. I disagree and gave my reasons. The propaganda is not the entire war, but it is a critical element of the war.You are Starting to Twist what Members say into Arguments that you want to Have. Again.

It's way more than that. It is convincing the general population that "vaping is bad", and then that second hand vape is bad for everyone else, and etc. They want the population thinking they will get cancer standing next to a vaper.'Propaganda' doesn't make vaping look like smoking; seeing does, hence the inclusion with smoking restrictions in our sensitive society...

Imagine a world where the gov't encouraged vaping as a smoking cessation method. Imagine commercials telling the masses that vaping is ok, it is safe. Then the public would not "see" vaping as smoking, but as a good thing.
That is the power of propaganda.
If the U.S. gov't wanted the population to accept and embrace vaping, it would happen. People will believe anything they see on a 24 hr news channel or web site. I find it difficult to believe that people here, knowledgeable with the history, believe that the public's disdain for vaping just happened. It was a concerted effort by the gov't and the media. But we will just have to agree to disagree on this.Ah, the mysterious 'they...'
I don't want the government to encourage anything, other than less government intrusion.
Smoking and thus things which look like smoking just aren't accepted in the U.S. Vaping came around about 20 years too late. Take a country like CR, for instance, where smoking is commonplace and the population is, for the most part, ambivalent about smoking. Vaping is not restricted, taxed, other than the standard VAT, and accepted pretty much everywhere. The U.S. Will never have such a free and unrestricted society...

I didn't say I wanted it. I just said what would happen if the gov't took that position. If your argument is reduced to putting words in my mouth then my participation has run its course.Funny one talks about overreaching governments, then wants the government to propagate a propaganda campaign in favor of vaping....

I learned a lot from this thread. Mainly that as a species vapers are doomed because they don't recognize nor will they accept how they are being propagandized. And if we as a species can't, then there is no hope.
It's not black or white.Again with the propaganda. Just because others don't agree with you doesn't mean they have been brainwashed by propaganda... Perhaps it is easier to simply find someone or something to blame, rather than just accept American society simply doesn't care that much about vaping and isn't willing to accept something which looks like smoking...

You said...
It matters little to me if it is called "harm reduction" or some other term.....
It is clear from the above that you missed my point entirely.
