I just read Jeffree's thread "A Newb's Preference.." and something he said made a light go off in my head. You know how V4L has sampler packs of different related flavors? Well, what if there were a nicotine sampler pack?

I've been vaping now for almost 2 months and I've stuck with 18mg because I smoked full flavor analogs. I haven't really deviated from 18mg because it seems to suite me fine and ordering the same flavor in all the different nic levels would get costly to figure out if I'm at the right level.

So I suggest this:

Pick a flavor (or two or three) and make it into a nicotine sampler so newer or first time users can determine what level they need to be at. This could also benefit people who've been vaping longer as well.

I'd suggest at least one of the menthol flavors, since they produce a completely different taste and feeling than any other flavor. Perhaps also a tobacco flavor or maybe chocolate or coffee since these flavors are stronger and more bold. And finally, a flavor that's lighter so maybe vanilla or one of the fruit variety.

So, a mint/menthol flavor, a bold flavor and a light one...those would be my suggestions.

Also, you could put it upto a vote...one of those poles people do here to determine one or two flavors :)

I'm not sure if this would be feasible or not for you Steve and the great folks at V4L, but think how many people it could help! :D

Anyways...just thought I'd share the idea I had and the glow of light leaking out from my ears and eyes and nose and .......wait no..not my .... >.>

I think this is a GREAT idea! It'd be great to be able to try the same flavor with different nic levels back to back!

I started on 8mg because I was at slightly over a pack of day and wanted to cut back my nic intake. But I've often wondered if I should have started a little higher to reduce the initial cravings of switching to the e-cig. Thankfully I did alright, but I can imagine how easily it would have been for somebody else who ordered 8mg to think "this doesn't work" and just give up without wanting to put more money into it.

I fully support this idea.

I like this idea, too! I started at 4mg because I had no idea what strength would work for me, and it turned out to be fine to get me off cigs, but then I got 8mg and that really curbs the craving much better. I can handle 11mg, but it's way too strong.

If not a sampler pack, perhaps throw in freebies of the flavors they ordered in different strengths on first time orders?

if they had a doubler for the flavor you could mix samples yourself and when you find your favorite you wouldnt have a bunch of extra juice the wrong nic content?just a thought...

Problem with this is that for somebody just starting out, I would think mixing their own juices would be a little daunting. I know when I was looking for my first PV, I wanted something easy and hassle free. If I had to mix my own juices from the beginning, I'd probably still be on analogs.

Oh don't get me wrong! I welcome any and all thoughts you've posted! I just meant that for a newbie, it'd be a turnoff. I actually love to mix my juices up now. Got a whole bunch of candy flavors I'm looking at mixing up. Need to get some flavorless nic juice so I can vape my mixes regularly though instead of just for fun. Cotton Candy & Bubblegum are my next experiments.

just-cass, my friend (username owlette here) is in n. ireland, and she's a V4Ler... they do ship there, it's just pricey. but with discount codes, the speed of shipping (i believe they ship express international), and lower US vs. UK juice prices (from what i've seen anyways) it's not a bad deal at all, if you make big orders. just a thought. :D but of course if you have a good supplier you're happy with, i'm happy for ya!

Good thinking, MrH! As I've been turning people on to V4L, I always receive questions about nic levels. Being able to compare them personally could help. Wondering aloud... is there a nic-level explanation anywhere on V4L's site? I don't recall finding one when I first arrived there with 100 questions; in fact, the nic-level issue first led me to this great forum. I wrote up a little page of advice for friends and colleagues although it's pretty lame, just based on my hunches after poking through threads: 4-8mg = ultralight cig 11-18mg = light cig 24-36 = full, strong cig Anyone know if that's about right, or is there a better breakdown out there that I could offer folks?

Someone here posted a youtube on that Jeffree, and he stated that he smoked Marlboro cigarettes (1 pack to 1 1/2 pack a day for 7 years) and that 11mg was perfect for him. He stated that any above that was harsh on the throat. Others have stated that they like higher amounts...guess just depends on personal preference.

Great Idea O.P.

I was thinking the same thing about the nic sample pack this weekend, due to my frustration trying to figure out what will work for me. Since I smoke 2 packs of Marlboro reds/day I purchased 36mg's and the nic level is great, BUT the throat hit is a killer for me. My next order was 24mg and the nic level was fine but the TH was still to harsh for me. I emailed V4L detailing the TH issue I was having to see if they could help because I love the product, and they just gave me a short response that I was probably sensitive to PG and should use the VG, but I mentioned in my email that the VG just did not do it for me.

Anyway, by accident I was vaping a green apple cart yesterday, and was pleasantly suprised with the taste and nice TH. Toward the end of the day I looked at it and realized that it was an 18mg (must have been thrown in with my order). So I think my problem with the TH is probably the nic level and not the PG thing (especially when not an issue when dripping my 510). Now I have an order in for 18mg's and hoping that will solve the issue.

I am $100's of dollars into figuring this out, and still not sure if I have. If I had a nic sample pack at first I probably would not be as frustrated as I am figuring this out. I don't want to go back to dripping and hoping to find something consistent with V4L so I can stop analogs completely. I wish V4L would have been a little more responsive in there email response if the TH problem is a nic level thing, besause I am bummed to be negative at all with V4L because all my other experiences with them have just been aweseome.

I think the cartonizers cause a stronger TH naturally and the nic level is something we can control in our purchases, so having a sample nic pack would really help finguring out what works best for each person to start out right, then we can enjoy spending our money on different flavors.

Just my 2 cents from my experiences and really hoping my 18mg's will be the answer.

Hey, good luck, Chris. I feel for you. Sorting things out definitely takes time. I was looking at my two dozen flavors today and thinking that I'll stay with just a few of them in the future. Simplify.

On a related note, during my first weeks I've found the obvious--that TH and vapor changes with not only nic levels but flavors as well. Besides a couple of tobac flavs, the Frappacino and Mint will stay with me long-term. I like their flavs, but I especially like their overall fullness and kick. You may want to add them to your sample list. Good luck.
