I'm not a battery expert, but I think they only come in 1.2... Puck seems to be the king of ni-mh mods, at least he's the only person I've ever noticed pushing them for use in mods, so he might have some info you might find helpful. I like my ni-mh newman's mod, I just need to get some new higher resistance attys to go with it since I only have LRs atm, but I love my 18650 newman's mods so I'm in no hurry.

Edit: Nice chart java.

The voltage a specific type of battery can put out is determined by its chemistry. That's why NiMH batteries only put out 1.2v. To get more voltage you need to put them in series, as in stacking. That will give you more voltage but keeps the amp/hour rating the same as a single cell. To get 3.6v you would need to stack 3 cells, 4 will give you 4.8v.

its a more stable chemistry...but dont let that delude you into thinking they are 100% safe...there are recorded instances on the flashlight forums of charger malfunctions causing even Nimh batts to go into thermal runaway w devastating results...however I have not managed to duplicate said results beyond the batts simply refusing to hold a charge anymore...that said all rechargable batts can go badly...the nickle based ones simply don't do it as often...

4.8 Volt NiMH Battery Cell

There is this battery floating around. By the looks of the thing its just 4 small NiMh batteries stacked and wrapped together.

Nice link Waho. And here I thought that I had looked at every section of madvapes. Guess not...

Has anybody here tried this exact battery in a mod? I would be very interested in what the voltage drop is, and hearing about how it performs.

i love that battery! its listed as 600MaH but seems to last forever. Slightly shorter and noticable thinner than an 18650, it works in all my mods for the 18650. Easiest way to go 5V imo. you need to get the special specific charger to go with it tho, so another charger in your collection, but well worth it i think.

Are the only voltages made for the NiMH batteries come in 1.2 volts? They don't make NiMH batteries in 3.7 volt or any other voltage?

I found some 1.6 nimh at Big Lots with a charger for 8 bucks and bought two. I built a Puck but made mine out of 3 AA boxes cause I didn't want to replace all my LR hardware. They work great at3.6 or 4.8volts.
