So I was just looking into buying a few extra batteries, and of course, AW 18xxx series is always my first choice, but I bought a Nitecore I4 Intellecharger and I noticed that Nitecore makes their own 18650 batteries...I thought that was pretty cool and wanted to order a couple..

Does anybody have any experience with them?

I figure since Nitecore makes top-of-the-line chargers, perhaps their batteries are up to par? Any input?

Personally I wouldn't have a NiteFireCore charger anywhere near my house. Can't even fathom what a NiteCore battery experience could possibly lead to. With their quality control issues a NightCore battery is a truly frightening concept.

The 2nd to the bottom post was from me.

Update:

I submitted a ticket to fasttech's customer service. I sent them a picture of the problem as well as a description. They said I could return it. I sent it back to Miami, not China. I asked if I could receive a Nitecore i4 charger instead. They said yes as long as I tell them the SKU #. I now have a tracking number and a new Nitecore i4 charger on the way! Excellent customer service.

I also bought an XTAR VP1 charger as my main/car charger.

Rickajho: Well the reason I said it was top of the line is because approx 90% of the people I have spoken with have recommended it to me (As far as buying a charger under $40), I read some reviews (Unfortunately, I missed those threads you posted above) and opinions , and it seems that many people like it and it performs it's job well.

Being somebody who just uses a cheap $10 charger (that only holds 2 batteries) to charge a bunch of batteries I have, I wanted to upgrade, and when I looked up "best charger for 18xxx batteries at a reasonable price", many people said Nitecore was the way to go.

I wish I saw your post those threads you listed before I bought one!!

by the way, What would you recommend or what do you use??

it seemed the nitecore came out the gate strong and was ok, but something happened along the way, maybe a rush to keep up with demand or outsourcing the construction. I have seen the nightcore batts before and if i remember they are just rebranded. personally i would just get a well known brand/model. batteries isnt the place to get a bargain especially for how long they will last.

I use the newer xtar vp1 and its a nice charger. exactly 4.2 volts every time. and if you dont take the batteries off right away the holding voltage has been dropping to 4.19 on mine.

Personally I wouldn't have a NiteFireCore charger anywhere near my house. Can't even fathom what a NiteCore battery experience could possibly lead to. With their quality control issues a NightCore battery is a truly frightening concept.

I have purchased two Xtar chargers from RTD Vapor.

The first was an Xtar MP2 for 18350 batteries only which had funny acting lights which I noticed when I put my first batteries in. I played a hunch and it turned out to be correct - the polarity wiring had be reversed during the chargers construction. Putting the batteries in backwards and the charger began charging the batteries. I contacted RTD and received a new charger no questions asked along with a coupon code for my next purchase.

The second Xtar was an Xtar WP6 II, because I've accumulated a lot of different size batteries and I sometimes need to charge more than 4 at a time. Unfortunately I can not use my 18350 batteries in this charger because the flimsy springs don't contain this size battery in the slot, they keep popping out. (I've since heard of others complaining of this, too.) I ended up being so frustrated with this charger that I bought the Nitecore Intellicharger i4 which overall appears to be a better charger with more features for less money than the WP6 II. It utilizes slider bars so that it will accept all of my batteries: 14500, 18350, 18490, and 18650.

Although I agree the Xtar chargers are high quality, I suggest looking deeper into the features (independent charging bays, sliders instead of flimsy springs, etc) to get the better models. Overall I've been happier with the Nitecore.

Didn't know Nitecore made batteries. It doesn't surprise me they are probably rebranded from another manufacturer. Other than giving some Efests a short trial, I've used only AW IMR's in all sizes for both my mechanical and regulated mods.

FWIW, I own and use a Nitecore I2 charger without any problems. I use small batteries (18350 and 18490 exclusively) so I didn't want to deal with Xtar's spacers.

I don't know anything about their batteries--I buy my batteries from RTD Vapor--AW IMR and Efest are good brands.

Batteries : AW IMR 18350 3.7V 700mAh

That said, bad things happen--I never leave batteries on the charger unattended and never, ever charge overnight.

Just my experience--YMMV, as always. :)

It may not be "top-of-the-line", but I recommend them to anyone/everyone who asks because I've never had a single problem with mine and you can't beat their 'bang-for-the-buck' rating ...then again, I bought mine on Amazon, not Fasttech so your mileage may vary. *shrug*

This is the only forum where people are having trouble with Nitecore, and they're buying them off FastTech. I belong to flashlight forums and no one there has problems with Nitecore, then again they tend to stay away from places like FastTech and DealExtreme. Just because it's less than half price doesn't mean it's the real thing, you get what you pay for, you buy it cheap, it's going to be cheap and probably a reject or a copy.

Only a couple of the listed threads purchased their charger from fastech. First one was a local B+M, last one was Amazon and only two that I saw specified Fastech. You have no basis for your assumption. Fastech does sell copies but they will tell you it's a copy. If they say it is genuine it has always proved to be genuine. Keep paying top dollar to a reseller if you want but I and a whole lot of other people like to save money and trust Fastech.

A lady was electrocuted when she tried to answer a ringing iPhone that was still connected to the charger.

A guy had his iPhone go thermal right after he connected it to his charger.

Conclusion: iPhones are junk?

Manufacture enough units of any electrical or electronic device and even the smallest percentage of defective units can multiply into hundreds of unfortunate incidents. There are probably millions of Nitecore chargers in use, including mine, which I've had for years.

It is a workhorse charger that I bought from a stateside vendor and authorized distributor of Sysmax equipment.

You're just like the DealExtreme idiots, even after it was proven several times that the batts and chargers from there were counterfeit, they would still insist it was quality stuff. You people don't care if it's real or not, just that it's cheap.

I appreciate all your guys' input. I ordered the Nitecore I4 from amazon for $20. Another reason I chose it: I've heard people talking about not being to thrilled with using spacers on some of their chargers and I didn't want to deal with that even though I think only 1 company does that

Whether or not Fasttech sells real/fake, I ordered from Amazon because I know I'll get it much quicker since the seller is relatively close.

I have 4 separate orders coming from Fasttech that I still haven't received(first order is almost 3 weeks old, the rest are a week), but I'm not stressing it, they've been sent out, just haven't gotten them yet. Sometimes, when you order from Fasttech, and you order multiple items on a single order, the whole shipment will be held up because of 1 item, so I tend to order each item separately--the shipping's free either way.

Batteries: Yeah, I only use AW IMR 18xxx series batteries, that is something that I don't ever get cheap with, (ok I lied, I have 1 Efest, but they are pretty decent quality and I needed 1 bad at the time). I was just curious about the Nitecore batteries and to see if anybody had any experience with them or heard of them.

Thanks for all the input!

Like many others I have not had a single issue from my nitecore charger, what I have to wonder tho, is knowing there are counterfeit nitecores out are the problemed chargers counterfeit or real. This has nothing to do with where you bought it, as the first time I read about it was a US e-cig vendor who had gotten them not knowing they where counterfeit.

The issue isn't just with FastTech. Once a supply of counterfeit products enter the pipeline, they can show up even at what are normally reputable vendors. I know my local B&M only sells authentic Kanger equipment. Their other electronics, I'm not sure about (I haven't asked). But unless they're buying stuff from authorized resellers, there is a chance that the lot they bought came from the counterfeiters.

Anything you buy from RTD or Discount Vapers or Mt. Baker will be genuine equipment, because they're all authorized vendors, get their inventory from the manufacturer, and have account executives/mfg agents that they can go to with problems or issues.

That doesn't mean you will never end up with a defective unit.

No, actually I'm not like any kind of idiot. Thank you very much.

I prove you wrong so you attack me personally and then change the subject. Let me guess, you vote republican also don't you?

Actually, please don't bother to respond, I don't care. I'm done with your petty B.S.

Have a nice day :)
