Let me say right up here; I am not an adherent of any recognised religion. If I was and took it seriously, I wouldn't think of an important religious observance as being an event to be 'celebrated' by a sale.
I'd also be respecting my staff who need a holiday with their families, not be putting in time to fill orders. Just saying...

I completely hear you, Katz. The thing is, though, that V4L did close early on Good Friday/beginning of Passover Shabbas at 3:00pm last week, so those who are observant could "observe." :) They were also closed, as is always the case, throughout the holy day weekend. So the sale (which would've been posted Thursday night or Friday morning) wouldn't have required any orders to be filled until the following Monday . . . after the Holy Days. :)

I think people were just asking because it has been v4l that has had sales alot and associated it with the usa holidays ...
its common here at every retail outlet ,right or wrong ,july 4 sale ,vets day sale ,etc etc .and also online .
People in the states even shop on christmas .I was teasing plantlvr because passover is a jewish holiday .
I have celebrated it with jewish friends in my youth and it was very wonderful and special to learn about other traditions and they made me feel welcome .:) I love learning about things that aren't part of my culture or background ! I've attended many catholic funerals for friends ,loved ones ,even tho I am not catholic and watched the pope's funeral too .

:D Clearly you need more Catholic and Jewish friends! :D

I just need more friends  but right now you guys fill the gap.

I agree Nancy, it's fascinating to find out more about other traditions & belief systems. come to think of it, every day on this forum is an education in another culture

Ok then i shall know more about Tasmania :) I can only tell you about cali ....i know nothing of other states ,except that in Tennessee southern hospitality does really exist ,at least where i was ...
I despise generalizations about cali ..i.e. "i was in la in 1956 and people were mean " lmao
There is much more to california then los angeles and beaches ,we are NOT all "stoners " nor hippies ,and we do not all walk around barefoot lmao ,we are not all as liberal as San Fran ,etc. ..and its not always sunny .:) Just read a post on fb the other day "OH ,,,i live in california and its always warm " ...i call bs ...unless you live in the high desert and even there it can rain hard .
Tasmania is one of the places my hubby has always wanted to go if money were no object :)
