We need an atomizer that will light an LED when the atomizer does not detect any more liquid. Thus, prolonging atty life and from no/bad taste vape. Anybody else like this idea? Are there high temp LEDs that could be stuck into an atomizer body for this? And I suppose a moisture detector or tiny circuit?? Just throwing the idea out there to get the ball rolling.

In order to accomplish this, you would need a logic circuit. A little big for a small device, but it would be doable with a larger case.

I think the easiest way to do this would be to incorporate an and gate in the circuit. A constant signal voltage (1) would be applied to one of the inputs, the other would be the signal from the detector, which in this case, I would think some kind of NTC (negative temperature coefficient thermistor might work. When the thermistor heats up to a certain point, it allows enough voltage through to the logic input of the and gate to turn the 0 into a 1 (so there would be 2 1's on the inputs) which would allow a 1 output. An LED would then be wired in series with the output.

It would take a lot of experimenting with thermistor placement, but doable.

Another option would be to incorporate a current detection circuit, as current falls as temperature increases.

Either way, it would be next to impossible to situate such a circuit within the atomizer body

How about something along the lines of a touch switch. As long as there is liquid between the leads to conduct, current will flow. When it drys out, no conduction, no current. I'm thinking in terms of running the leads to a transistor, maybe, that acts as a low current trigger for a master switch?

are you thinking of a relay instead of a transistor?

do we even know if ejuice conducts electricity well?

Something similar to this-

I used it to lite up an LED, but wouldn't work for what I wanted it for.
I'll have to stick it in some e-juice & see if anything comes out.:)

The idea of a switch is good.

Manual batteries already have a switch. Having a second switch would not be a big problem, if pushing it opened a small valve like the ones in automotive tires, which would release 3 drops into the atomizer. I just hope they don't get carried away and think that people want to an ecig with a large bottle attached, I was thinking more of a little reservoir which can hold around 55 drops.

Some ecigs do have a touch sensitive switch, btw. I just don't remember which model or who sells it, but you basically just touch it on a little circlular spot, and it lights up.

Take a look at this thread-http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...7-tank-reservoir-bombinette-v2-lady-25mm.html. It's a little hard to follow, the person making the mod is french & using Google translate. They've done an excellent job on the mod.

Someone gave me the schematics for one that is supposed to work well, I just got side-tracked & haven't followed up on it yet. I was wanting to put some sort of switch on the cart/carto so that you could activate it with your lips. Wouldn't be that useful with the bigger mods, but could be useful on existing cigarette shaped PVs.

That's brilliant, the ecig is lit up by the mouth!

Thank you for the link also, I have bookmarked it.
It seems that on that model, juice simply flows unregulated into the atty, correct? If so, then could a push-button switch work there? Every time the button is pressed, it could open the reservoir and move the wick into it until released.

I like that, replace what you use while you use it! Great idea! And, if it could be all done with a switch that is activated when you press your lips on the cart/carto, all the better.:)
