I'm from the Midwest (Iowa to be exact). When I first started vaping publicly nearly a month ago, a night didn't go by when someone didn't ask me about my e-cig or tell me that I was allowed to "smoke" in a public place. Now, it's already old news, and I live in a relatively small town. I haven't had so much as a glance unless someone I know tells someone THEY know about my e-cig, in which case the normal response is, "Yeah, I've heard about those."

Yet friends of mine from large cities like New York, LA, Portland, etc., STILL have yet to see anyone vaping on an e-cig, or when I mention one to them during a phone call or on instant messaging, they say "Huh? What's an e-cig?"

I only mention this because here in the Midwest, we're usually the last to know anything. :)

I had a homeless guy come up to me begging for money in NYC and he knew what an e-cig was....then again he was probably begging so much for cigs from people he was bound to run into someone with an e-cig when they told him sorry could not give you one! and here is why

so when he saw mine he said oh i know what that is..and went to tell me...he said i would love to get one but i could not afford one being on the streets..

Durant, Ok
I live in Phx which is a fairly large city but they're getting pretty well known around here too.. The other day, I think it was last week.. my sense of time sucks... it was the day after the Transformers came out the BF decided to drag me and my younger sister to go see it (not that I'm complaining now of course) even though I'd just gotten off work and totally didn't feel like it. Well the line was horribly long (we had to stand outside in the heat for 45min before we could get in to see the show!) I was standing in line with a good 50+people in direct eyesight of me (including a 5-6 year old kid about 15ft from me) vaping basically constantly, and no one, not even the kids mom (who I would think would be the first to start trouble over "smoking" in a crowd) said anything to me. I was actually pretty bummed out from it, I was totally looking for a confrontation (even used juice which flavor I don't like as much but produces better vape clouds to try and get a response) I'm guessing the days of explaining what you're "smoking" are going to be coming to an end before too long :(
