So, I've got some top-coil 808 cartomizers I've been meaning to breathe new life into. They had been sitting for a couple of weeks with juice remnants in them and thus were quite gunked and dried-out. I have never cleaned them before - mostly because none of them have seen much use since I got my T3's, heh. Each one has been filled maybe 3 times. The night before last, I left them to soak in 80 proof vodka (not the best choice, I know, but it was all that I had and this was a spur of the moment thing.) They soaked until yesterday afternoon, so I'd say they were in there for about 12 hours. After taking them out of the vodka, I pumped HOT water through the mouth end with a drip tip and a 10ml syringe for about 5 minutes each. After this, I gave em all a final rinse and blew through the atty ends until there was no more spray. I allowed them around a full day for drying, periodically blowing through them when I was around to do so.
Today, they are nice and dry. The poly looks good as new and smells like... ...well, nothing. So, thinking I'm good to go, I go ahead and fill one up, let it sit for a hot second, and give it a 'vape' on my X2 battery. Nothing. And yet, I can feel the heat on my lips and the hot air going past my throat. You can clearly see that it is healthily saturated with juice. I gave it a little power with the mouth end-cap off and yep, the coil is definitely heating up. Still no vapor, though.
I think to myself "Okay, this is weird, but maybe it's something with this carto." and try another. Same deal. It is firing, but not producing vapor.
I gutted the first one, leaving just that mesh, the coil, and wick on there... ...put a drop of 80/20 right onto the coil and boom, I had reasonably voluminous, tasty vapor.
So what's up with my poly? Do I maybe need to clean it more? It looks and smells good enough, but as I was pulling it out of what is now a ghetto drip atty, I noticed that it's kind of firm. Is it still dirty or did I somehow ruin it?
It's not the end of the world for me, as I'm content to just puff away on this T3 all day long. But it confounds me. Any advice?
