RDA Nobu Naga.... battery heating up but not coil?

Having some trouble with the Nobunaga(rda) I recently acquired. It's sitting on a GP Paps V3 running 18490 IMR. The mod works the GP heron(RTA) fine but when I try to test the Nobunaga (single coil .25 x 6 wraps) the mod(battery) heats up but not the coil.

Any help would be appreciated.

16 Amps and 64 watts...from an 18490 in a mech (that prolly needs cleaning).

My 2¢,
Get a regulated device for your dripper(s) (less then .5Ω builds) and leave the Heron on the Paps.

I appreciate the advice although I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Are you saying that RDAs shouldn't be used on a mech period and that the setup i'm using is drawing too much power?

If only the latter, what would be a good build to try out?

Yes,
I'm saying the Vdrop on the Paps might contribute to the issue, but mostly that 18490/18500 batteries overall, tend to max out at 15 amps.

So, use a RATED 18650 in the paps if you plan to run below .3Ω.
A regulated device will NOT fire if it encounters any problems.

Thanks for the response but I think i might not have been clear in my first post.

It's not a .25 Ohm coil. I am using .25mm wire X 6 wraps which should produce a resistance of somewhere in the region of 1 Ohm.

Then you have a hard short.

Did you meter the build before loading it on the paps?
It needs to read steady resistance (with the cap off and on) before you mount it on the Mech.

Ok, will try to slap it on a Provari to check.

Update.... Same setup on a Provari set @ 4.2V works and reads 1.6 Ohms.

Update II.... Fixed!!!

Was indeed a short but the culprit was the top cap (poorly designed imho). The 510 pin housing in the top cap was making contact with the top cap its self. Never had this issue with the Heron since it's a hybrid.

Solution..... stuck a piece of electricians tape between the two and..... problem solved.
