Non-Resistance Wire - AWG Ni200 Nickel 200 - DNA 40 - Tips or tricks

Going to take a run at the new dna 40 chip and I have never used NI200 wire. Wire and gear is on the way.

Any thoughts on builds would be great. What to expect or really how much different will it be when dropping a coil into a dripper.

Will I even meter the coil anymore?

It looks like 28 ni had about the same resistance as 26 kanthal and 30ga ni is about 28 guage kanthal... Builds aren't that much different

There is actually a huge difference in resistance between Kanthal and Ni200 which is what Evolv recommends to work with their temperature control feature. I pulled these numbers from Temco.

Resistance (ohms per ft @ 68 deg F)
Ni200
28 Gauge - 0.3778
30 Gauge - 0.6
32 Gauge - 0.9375

Kanthal
26 Gauge - 3.31
28 Gauge - 5.27
30 Gauge - 8.36
32 Gauge - 13.1

As Peraspera writes, there's a huge difference in resistance between Kanthal and Ni200. Are you perhaps thinking of Nichrome (which is very different from Ni200)?

Into to dna 40 thread has a few builds on there. So far the best I've seen is twisted 32ga.

Did anyone offer a deal on small amounts of ni200, 20 ft or less in 34 to 28ga, I think this would be a great idea for companies that sell it, I'd love to try all the different sizes.

The Kiwi posted a twisted 28ga ni200/32ga kanthal build in the DNA 40 thread. Looked to address many of the softness issues that are of concern with using just nickel

I've been toying with twisted 28/30, 28/28 30/30
28 kanthal/28 Ni200, 28 kanthal/30 Ni200 all with good results.
Next thing I'm going to try my hand at parallel Ni200 coils
