Non-smoker noob, having trouble deciding on a brand

I decided a few weeks ago, after about eight years of consideration, that I'm tired of standing around with my hands in my pockets while all my friends are smoking. But as per their strong advice, I'm not going to start smoking.

I decided to start vaping, and plan on sticking to the nicotine free juice.

Since this is also kind of an image thing, I'd like to have a PCC. And I want my e-cig to be black. I don't want a manual battery.

I don't plan on vaping on a daily basis. Maybe eventually, but for right now I only plan on vaping when I "go out" which is normally only once or twice a week.

I've had my eye on Blu...and honestly would have ordered a starter kit from them had it not been for their recall and 6 week delay on all new orders. I really like their brand management, and most of my questions about vaping were answered on their website easier than most others. I was actually going to wait 6 weeks for them to replenish their stocks and "think it over" but after reading up on them here, I'm having second thoughts on that brand anyway.

My second choice is the Sidesho from Modern Vapor. But they're sold out of the kit, it looks as though I'd have to order all the pieces individually? Plus I didn't see any nicotine-free options on there anyway. I'm nearly sold on this one, but if I get the Sidesho and some empty carts, how exactly do I fill them?

Where's a good source for juice? I don't want to mess with making my own, and I want lots of flavors...not doing this for nicotine, so flavors are very important. Cherry, Coca-cola, cotton candy, watermelon...etc.

And a few silly questions....since I've never smoked, what exactly am I supposed to be doing? Do I inhale just as though I were breathing in air through a straw, into my lungs? Or do I suck on it like I'm sipping a drink into my mouth without swallowing it? And since I'm not going to be using any nicotine, does it matter how long I hold it in? And am I correct in understanding that since I won't be using nicotine, I'm just going to be hitting blanks? ie, flavor and the vapor will be there, but there will be no effects otherwise?

Thanks!

You want to vape to look like you are smoking.... That is Stupid.
You just want to vape 0 just to vape...., That is Stupid.
Your friends that smoke are Stupid! Your friends that vape because they used to smoke are trying to quit smoking and spending hundreds of dollars doing it!!! You ARE AHEAD OF THE GAME!!!
I don't do this because it's cool, I do this because I have some STUPID need to suck on something and blow out something.... because I was STUPID!! Now I am an ADDICT!!!!
And I feel STUPID!!

Look at my banner at the bottom, if you were to take my smoking amount and average it at 4.25 a pack for the last 20 years you come to just under 85,000.

As the other people have said, don't.
The hand to mouth oral fixation is the part I fought off and still am.
The analog habit is 72 hours and going for me without the urge or need for one.
Before that I was a 2-3 pack a day guy, so a dramatic cut down to maybe 1-4 a day was not bad.

I seriously beg you to reconsider and not pick up the habit.

I appreciate you guys looking out for my well-being, but at the same time, I'm an adult. And like I said, I'm not going to smoke, I'm not going to do nicotine...sounds smart to me, not stupid.

And epuffdaddy is thinking along the same lines I am...No way in hell I'm going to tell all my friends to quit smoking. They're adults. And more often than not it's their own property they're doing it on. So my second reasoning behind this is that if I pick up vaping, they might make the switch. Make it easier for me to breathe, and doesn't interfere with their nicotine habits--unless they decide for it to.

Dredbull, where is a reliable place to order a 901/801 from? And is there a PCC available for them?

Thanks!

I'm an adult. This is something I want to do. It's something I've wanted to do for eight years, but an option that isn't harmful to my health or chemically addictive hasn't presented itself until someone recommended vaping to me, and recommended this forum along with it.

I'd really just like some advice on what brand to select...is that too much to ask for?

Besides, who are any of you to talk? I've never hit a cigarette in my life. If I had come to this forum claiming to be a smoker, you'd be welcoming me with open arms. Kind of hypocritical if you ask me.

  • Reason: insulting remarks
Look in the supplier section of you are indeed seriously considering it.
I do not know about 8 or 9 series I use a 510 and am hopelessly addicted to nic atm.
If you just want some vapor and flavor the 510 can do no wrong.
cignot for 510 and juice
Eliquidplanet 901 and 801 stuff and juice
Rockymountainvapor I think for some of it and juice that gets good raves.
Innovapor has a nice selection and they have lightning fast delivery to me.

There may be others but I am just browsing around looking for a possible flavor rig set up myself.

For as far as juice goes I have a fave and rave supplier.
Dawn and George at diyflavorshack. I reviewed some test juice she sent me, it almost made cry it was that good. So far the juice has been spot on.

I hear Drew over at nhaler has some bomb flavors but not sure about no nic juice.

Liquidexpress, eliquidplanet, Litecig have some I am interested in and others love em.

All that I have listed have been scored great marks and have stuff that interest me.

Not being harmful to your health is not something that has been proven, but those of us who smoke or did believe it's a healthier alternative. Your right if you were a smoker who was trying to find something that might be healthier you would get a better response.

I for one can't imagine why an "adult" would want to vape if they don't need to.

Actally we welcome people with open arms because this is an alternative to something which has been negatively affecting our health... and we're thrilled to share the info with others who are addicted to the nicotine and added poisons in .... logs.

Who are we to talk???? WOW
We're caring people who in many cases truly wish we'd never started smoking... and wouldn't need to find a healthier alternative.

I'm 51 years old and 4 months ago given a diagnosis of pre-copd. Vaping has saved my lungs and my life. It ain't no friggin' fashion statement I do to look 'kewl', give my friends something to talk about, get attention, 'fit in' or keep my hands out of my pockets.

Get a clue - you can choose whatever you want - it's your money. It's awesome that you ask for advice and then slam what you get....
or, are you just trolling for something to do?

EDIT - just saw your BS post.....
ms/r 'heavy smoker' -

Check my avatar..... I gots my mask on just for you!

Seriously? Come on.

By the way, I forgot, I'm a huge smoker, been smoking for years. Cant believe it slipped my mind. It's so terrible, I'm hooked. I've tried everything. I want to start vaping to help me quit.

So can I have some advice now?

... no seriously come on- look at how ridiculous you sound. I am a non-smoker and want to vape to fit in with my smoker friends. I am not addicted to nicotine, I have never smoked, but I want to vape when my friends are smoking...

You are a insult to everyone that vapes for a healthier alternative not because we want to fit in. And your last comment proves why your a enormous tool. You have no clue what its like to be addicted to cigarettes and nicotine. I have no advice for you other than you should get a life-coach. I really can't see why no one else is insulted by this.

30+ years ago, when I first started smoking, virtually everyone smoked. And it was really no big deal then....cigarettes were widely advertised and you could smoke them anywhere. With the right amount of money, you could buy them out of machines! But that all has obviously changed now.

I'm not sure the OP is necessarily saying that smoking is cool...or that he has thought of starting so he could fit in. I think the word I would tend to use is...smoking is 'inviting'. I know I felt that way when I started and to this day, I still get a similar feeling when watching someone smoke an analog.

One problem is....most people are here out of desperation....stemming from trying so many things to quit smoking that didn't work....and hoping that vaping is at least a healthier option to their addiction. I have seen some here say that they were on the verge of COPD and have been able to reverse some of that with vaping; others report breathing improvements since vaping. So all in all, most here will agree that vaping has made them feel healthier overall.

But that should in no way be construed as these same people would advocate someone to start vaping if they've never smoked. I mean really, it would be foolish to do so. And I don't think anyone here wants to say that vaping, even 0 nic, is healthy because as someone once said....the only healthy venue is fresh air.

So naturally when someone comes on and wants to take up vaping even though they've never smoked, the idea is met with some disdain (but keep in mind that on this forum, that does not give rights to insults).

Another problem is the 'gadgetry' of it all. True enough, if anyone tends to be a 'gadgeteer' (such as myself)....purchasing an ecig can certainly seem alluring. But keep in mind that vaping is no picnic....and as mentioned, most of us vape out of necessity....not just for fun. As for myself, I really long for the day when I can leave the house, be gone an entire day and not have to worry about batteries, attys, carts, juice, etc to get me through the day. And as much as smoking cigarettes was a much more convenient habit in that respect, I am willing to put up with this inconvenience because it physically makes me feel better....and that's what we are all doing here.

So to the OP...I really don't think people were trying to be rude here....but if you went on a forum filled with former smokers and those trying to quit and stated you'd like to take up smoking...well, they would probably run you into the ground....not because of something personal to you but just because they have all been there, done that and wish they never had.

I think the most damaging question in your OP is this: And am I correct in understanding that since I won't be using nicotine, I'm just going to be hitting blanks? ie, flavor and the vapor will be there, but there will be no effects otherwise?

As I mentioned, no one here wants to say 'there will be no effects otherwise' because there has been no scientific, conclusive testing to determine this yet. And beside the fact that we most likely have ASH and the FDA frequenting these boards, no one really wants to make unfounded health claims....nor does ECF want to be in a position where it appears we are advocating such claims.

Now, if you are just a troll and trying to entice people here into making false health claims (which I guess I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are not), I'm sure this will become more evident in any future posts....at which point, if true, you would be permabanned. But be aware....as much as members here are willing to help the newbs, you should not expect, as a non-smoker, to be welcomed with open arms only because as I mentioned, most here are going to recommend 'Don't even start!' And in all reality, that is probably the best advice anyone can give.
