Hi,
I know.. this question will sound stupid for some of you, but please don't be rude. recently, while surfing on the web, i discovered electronic cigarette. They seem pretty nice but a lot of people say its only for people who are smoking. Me, i never smoked in my life but i would like to try the feel of smoking (stress relief, relaxing, etc) without actually killing myself or people around... So i looked furter and found nicotine free ecigs. I already contacted a company (blu cigs) and they told me that it was for people who don't smoke. But when i go on some forum, they sey that it is for people who are quitting. So, i'm asking you, will i "kill" myselft if i try those (nicotine free e-cigs) and to they have some bad effect?

I'm just a newbie, but I've asked those questions too and the general consensus seems to be: They've existed for about 8 years and noone has reported any greater adverse health reactions other than a few people who are allergic to propylene-glycole, medical reports say they're 99% safer than tobacco cigs, but since it's all new there is no direct long-term study. There's a health board on this forum that will have greater information about it.

EDIT: I should mention too that I don't recommend you starting, because you might become addicted to the act of inhaling and exhaling vapour, which is wonderful enough to not want to give it up (for me anyway). And if you find yourself without vaping supplies you might just turn to tobacco. But you're a big boy (I assume) and you make your own decisions. :)

As someone who smokes and DETESTS the smell and taste of analog - my advice is to kill that curious cat inside you cause you're REALLY not missing anything by never tried smoking.

I've seen so many "curious" people who wouldn't even seem like the type to get addicted, try, and for some stupid reason become regular smokers.

I would even go far as to suggest that there might be a chance maybe even trying ecigs might prolong/build your curiosity regarding analogs... or not.

But even the remote possibility of worst case scenario is worth avoiding in IMHO.

I myself am going to try out ecig to help me kick the analog habit.

Well of course the people at Blu told you it was for people who don't smoke. They wanted to make a sale! We don't suggest that non-smokers take up vaping, but there really isn't anything stopping you from doing it. Vaping is an alternative to smoking. It is not designed solely to help people stop smoking, although some people who switch to vaping also quit vaping as well. I would suggest not picking it up, even if you use 0 nicotine juice.

I think the dangers for your situation in particular is that you already have an innate curiosity regarding smoking.

Nothing wrong with vaping ... just concerned that you will try and it does not relieve your curiosity for analogs or even worse it amplifies your curiosity.

I started smoking late at age of 25. No one who knew me thought I was the type to ever end up smoking, ever. I tried 1 at a party and before I knew it 15 years have passed, pack per day of the nastiest habit I can think of.

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid but I agree with Grifter - non-smoker vaping may lead to trying analog.

I can kick the nicotine addiction, this is not difficult for me - fighting the smoking habit is much more challenging at least for me. Hence why I hope ecigs will help me quit analogs.

You may not get addicted, but it could become a habit. And there is a difference between the two. For instance, I once was getting ready to put my shoes on, and saw a spider in one. For about a year after that, I had the habit of checking my shoes everyday before putting them on. I don't do that anymore, but it might be a worthwhile habit, especially if you live in Oz.

So, it will be up to you to make the decision. I'm not advising yes or no.

We are just advising that you not start but with no intent on sounding mean or snide about it. In the end, since you are an adult (aren't you?), it is your decision. If you choose to do so, I hope years from now, you don't regret the decision.
At least, since you should do a lot of reading on this site, take your time and think about it.

just a thought from the other side please keep in mind this is just my opinion but i would recomend against vaping, why do it? the stress relief and calming effects of smoking are from the nicotine so your not going to get that benefit from 0 nic ecigs, it is not a cheap hobby it is alot cheaper then analogs for sure but i could find better uses for the money if i didnt need the nicotine.also with the new federal regulations inevitabley coming best case ecigs and vaping is going to get much more expensive worst case they are banned in some places all together.

last but not least let me ask you where it "could " lead , lets say you are out of juice or your battery dies are you then going to be tempted to smoking an analog because your used to vaping? i dont mean to get all preachy but having been so heavily addicted to something that is so horrible as a cigerette is, i would never wish that on anyone else and i personally think your ahead of the curve and have already won the battle so why put yourself in that situation.

good luck to you no matter what your desicion is.

Like everyone else here, I would strongly advise against starting to vape if you've never been a smoker. There are a *whole* lot of other ways in life to reduce stress than drawing something other than pure air into your lungs on purpose.

I didn't start smoking almost 27 yrs ago because I was stressed out. I started because I was a kid and back then it was the "cool" thing to do. I never knew that first cigarette would lead me to my first pack, and then almost 20 years of smoking-related health issues.

I realize you say that you never ever intend to smoke analog cigarettes, and I certainly commend your healthy choice there! But honestly, as I said, there's just no *good* reason to subject your nice clean lungs to something that wasn't actually meant to be there (vapor).

Find a good hobby, start working out (if you don't already), take a long walk ...gosh, there are just countless ways to healthily reduce stress!
