Hi folks, i am new here and new'ish to e-cigs, (couple of weeks)

I bought the vivid starter kit (650mAh ) of which is great, nice tates but for me i wasnt getting enough
of a drag so i was advised to get a protank mini 2 and whilst i was at it i got an EVOD VV.

The Protank dont taste too clever on the Vivid battery and worse on the VV, the vivid clearomiser dont taste
too nice on the VV either (at lowest setting, worse any higher)

If i put the vivid back together again then its not bad at all , could be better taste wise but all in all, workable
just not the drag im after...

So, why are the 2 protanks i have (1 is a clone i think and one is authentic) giving a bad taste and also anything i put on the VV is giving a bad taste, i am at a loss :/ any advice please?

How long have you been using the coil heads currently in the tanks? Could just be time to change them. Depending on the type of juice you're using they might not last as long as they say they will.

Hi, its tasted crap from the get go, so perhaps i didnt primed as good as i thought i had?
again, though, why would the vivd clearomiser not taste as good on the VV battery? is it too powerful for it even at 3.2?

Hi @Bashy

Vivid is almost off the scale for rubbish. They are a tobacco company selling really old kit for maximum money. Like Blu... they should be avoided at all costs.

It's ironic that the two most over-hyped brands in the UK are both tobacco companies. They don't care about vaping and vapers, they just want your money. Actually, there are THREE brands at this game when you add the most useless and most over-priced e-cigs ever made, E-Lites.

If you put a Vivid clearo or a Protank 2 in a variable volt battery, you are dicing with burning the coil. Many people managed less than a day using Protank 2 before the infamous 'dry hit' ruined the vaping experience. Basically the liquid flow was very limited... (I can explain more if you really want to /// zzzzz)

With the airflow base and either handmade coils or Kanger SOCC (cotton wool) the Protank 2 is a nice tank... but you need to pimp it to get the best out of it.

Vaping has moved on so fast in the last few years. You can either take advantage of all the great new products sold through vaping companies or stick with greedy tobacco companies and hardware that should not really be on sale anymore. We were all beta testers... you don't have to be.

Tough love, I know... sorry.

:)

I find the vivid is much better than the evod vv and protank mini 2, i have more coils coming so hopefully there will be a difference...

I've heard claims there are Spinner battery copies that the variable voltage doesn't actually work. I had 2 cheapies of them and the VV worked fine. Just a possibility ... The Vivid battery may be weak but the VV should dial down at least as low and plenty low enough. Did you burn the coil and THEN turn it down? Too late need new coils, or maybe even clean out entire clearomizer if it burned a lot and stunk it up.

You should wait at least 5 minutes before first fill of a clearo or new coil and using it, the primer puff helps but time is the biggie.

Protanks like less than standard battery voltage, this is probably intentional because it's an easier circuit to make that only takes the voltage down than one that goes both ways like the your VV is supposed to. The maximum setting on that battery may destroy it instantly. With lowish voltage and the higher resistance coils they are nice though, I use one daily for an expensive dessert vape I want low juice consumption of. The mini PT2 coils are also compatible with the original EVOD clearos which are even cheaper and actually have better flavor with some juices (esp. anything tobacco), although some juices can crack the plastic eventually. Note the PT3 and EVOD 2 use a different dual type coil and I have yet to be as impressed with them.

Then you have found something that works, that's good.
I wasn't aware they sold replacement coils... so that's also good.
Are we talking the same Vivid? :p
