NOOB looking for advice

Hello everyone Im Dennis. Ive been reading this board for the last couple of days and would like to get started vaping. Ive been a marlboro red 1pk/day for 30yrs. I enjoy smoking but not the side affects. My wants are long battery life, tank system, Vari voltage and AC/DC charger. Id like to be able to fill at night, use all day and refill at night.Id rather spend a little more up front rather than upgrading form a K808 or 510 Kit. Ill give you my list if you could tell me if anything is missing or suggestions you may have.

1 (smoketek or Vision) 3.5 ViVi Nova Tank Clearomizer (Whats the difference??) or Other
1 smoketek AC/DC LI-ion Charger
3 replacement coils (which ones 1.8 2.4 2.8......)

Question on ejuice

Went to mount baker vapor, all thier offerings are in 100PG 80/20VG 50/50VG im guessing the more VG the thicker the vapor. What are your suggestions ??

Hi Dennis and welcome to ECF. Congrats on your decision. Don't own the Vamo but I would suggest you get an 510 atomizer to test juices. Easy to clean if it's a yucky juice rather than filling a carto or tanks and having to wash it out.

SmokTek is a knockoff and many reported problems with them. The Vision Vivi Nova is the genuine/ original and the best one to buy.

Edit: Generally speaking re: heads:
1.8 ohms- good from 3.3- 4.0 volts
2.4 ohms- good from 4- 5 volts
2.8 ohms- good from 5 volts and up

In regards to the vivi nova, vision is the original brand vivi nova, someone correct me if im wrong on this. I know that if you buy the vision vivi nova it comes with the 3 replacement coils as you mentioned 1.8/2.4/2.8, I would suggest trying each out and see which one works best for you. If it were me I would order some extra replacement coils just in case one fails or you go through them fast. As far as Mount Baker Vapor I would suggest getting a few 80pg/20vg and 50/50vg and see which one you like better and you are correct that vg will produce more vapor, and sometimes less of a throat hit.

yea stick with the Vision Vivi Nova and when getting replacement heads make sure there for the Vision model as most the others wont work with it.

Hi and welcome! I always suggest people get several small delivery systems to try out, since each one has its own special pros/cons/quirks.

Vapors Choice has a good price on authentic Vision Vivi Mini Novas (plus their own clone they call "Excalibur), and a number of other little ones. They also have a 5% off coupon: "vf5"

I am with the rest. Try a couple of different atomizer systems. The smoktech DCT comes pretty cheap, I don't like dual coils myself but you can get the XL single coil boges to fit the same tank. Perhaps a Kanger T3 as well. Fairly cheap and will give you more options to try to see what you like best.

Also Mt. Baker has more options for PG/VG ratios. I'd probably start 50/50 and see how you like that and adjust accordingly. The PG is a better flavor carrier. The VG provides more vapor. You can always add flavor shots as well if they aren't as flavorful as you'd like.

Welcome to the forum and to vaping. I was a pack a day guy myself and 3.5 ml of juice was not enough to last me the entire day. I was having to top the Nova off throughout the day, when it got low, to keep the wicks wet. You may want to consider a bigger tank.

For someone new, I would suggest trying both long wick and short/no wick tanks. I personally find it much easier to hit a long wick. Try a CE4V3 with a 2.4 ohm atttie and go from there.

I would also suggest getting the boge tanks I find then easier to refill and if you have a syringe the initial fill up is also easy. I also find them to be consistent in flavor. Hope it works out for you.

WOW,Thanks to all that replied, that was quick. Lots of good info, ill add a couple of heads to my order.

I know Flavor is totally subjective but any suggestions on a couple of Ejuices to start with. Some of the flavors looks like breakfast and dessert dont know if id want those all day long.

from mount baker vapor I have ordered extreme ice and lemonade, and they sent me a free bottle of caramel apple. If I remember correctly usually if you buy 2 15ml bottles they will send a free 15 ml bottle as well. The extreme ice is good and tastes alot like winterfresh gum, I did not care for lemonade. The caramel apple they sent me was excellent. My suggestion would be to buy various flavors that sounds appealing to you. Try a few tobacco's, and some sweet juices. Just remember regardless of the flavor, that you will never capture the true taste of a ciggarette, your best bet is to replace it with something that you think taste's good. My all day vape is ry4 which is a mixture of tobacco caramel and vanilla.

Also check out the itaste mvp. A little simpler as you don't have to remove the batteries to charge them like the vamo. Also i've heard great things about the iclear 30 clearomizer so you might want to check those out.

I would see if you can find a local vape store that will let you sample flavors to see what you like. Also don't forget that your tastes may change while your sense of tatse and smell come back.
