Hi all,

New to the forum. Been a long time smoker of analogs, and wanted to work my way off.

I'm lucky to have a B&M close by, so I stopped in a few days ago and bought a setup.

I left with a two vision spinner VV batteries, a kanger evod tank (which I hate so far), and an aspire CE5 BDC.

tried a few juices the local place (esix vapors) had available, and found a few i like so far.

Went back yesterday and got another aspire clearo because i hated how harsh the evod tasted to me.

My question is, what simple mods/accessories are available for what I've got? I purchased a different drip cap from esix as well, but since I'm new to all this, I don't have a clue what I'm doing yet.

Thanks!

Doug

You've pretty much have what you can get for those pieces. I started with Vision Spinners, too and like them very much. VV is a nice feature. Only other thing is to make sure you'll have replacement coil heads for whatever topper you decide to keep using. Oh, I suppose a couple more toppers as back ups. I always like to have a couple more toppers than batteries at least, especially if you like to switch up flavors throughout the day. You can just have them prefilled and swap them out on your battery.

the aspires came with a few replacement coils (1.8ohm and 2.1ohm with a 1.8 loaded out of the box), and I've got two of them, so for right now, 4 spare coils. How will I know once a coil goes bad? I assume it'll just stop working, or will it taste burnt?

I didn't like the harshness of the evod. It could have been the juice i was using, and I hadn't considered a higher resistance coil yet, but it did come with a spare (I think it's a 2.5ohm). I also didn't like how it threaded onto the battery. there isn't a very "positive stop" letting me know it's screwed on all the way and tight.

so far, i love the aspires. It looks nicer to me, seems to hit smoother on two different juices, and I like that it's got the interchangeable drip tips

You may have just have the voltage up too high for the coil in the EVOD. Whenever you start any of these BCC clearos with a new coil or an untried juice dial your voltage on the Spinner all the say down and only move the voltage up until you find the flavor and vapor production you want. Starting any of these coils at too high a voltage = instant harshness.

good advice! I had this one turned all the way down, it could be harsh liquid, or being a new coil. I'm going to give it another shot eventually, but it didn't give me the instant gratification I was looking for

With the Spinners, you are going to be limited on the kind of toppers that match aesthetically. Normally the EVOD and Protank/Protank Mini are the preferred toppers for spinners. If you are getting a harsh vape I suggest you try changing the coil and possibly going to a higher ohm coil like a 2.2 or 2.4 ohm coil. There are also número use copies of the EVOD made by other company's such as Aspire ans SMOK. If you still are not satisfied, try a top coil tank. Also you can use CE2 and CE4 type disposables, but these get expensive over the long haul. The other possibility is a Carto TanK, which is just a Tank made to accept a "punched" cartomizer. They area little more fiddlie to use as you have to prime the carto before installing in the tank. After that you just replace the cartomizer when it becomes plugged or starts tasting burnt form accumulated gunk.

Everyone goes through a learning curve to find their ideal set-up. Some are content with your level while others progress to re-builables and mechanical mods.

Don't crank you clearo down tight. You'll break the battery. Same goes for attaching it to the charger. Finger tight is plenty to make the connection. There's not a "positive" tight on them because the parts (battery and topper) are so modular. "ego" is a style made by many brands, so are the toppers, and there are minute differences in thread lengths, etc.

Also, cranking it down too tight on the charger CAN cause charging issues that could be dangerous (it HAS happened, but sometimes vendors neglect to mention this--they can't know EVERYTHING, well, they should, but they're human, too).

i appreciate it everyone! roughly how long should I expect a coil to last under normal use? ...or is that kind of subjective to what normal use is?

It's a sliding scale, largely depending on the sweetener and the flavoring in your liquids. The general rule is the darker and sweeter the liquid is the faster the coil and wick will get gunked up. Some clear liquids you can run in a Kanger coil for nearly two weeks. A really sweet bakery flavor can kill a coil in less than two days. Running the coil at a higher voltage than necessary will make it happen faster.

You know it's time because as the coil and wick become more encrusted with sweetener and flavor components things start tasting more harsh or burnt. At that point you are burning more crud off the coil than creating new vapor and it's time to go.
