Started a week ago, and I have a slew of noobish questions I was hoping you all could help me with.

Firstly, I've been reading reviews on a number of e-liquid sites many of which indicate the juice must be "Steeped". The only steeping I'm familiar w/ is when making either tea or beer, neither of which seem applicable here.

  • How do I Weez Steep the juice?
  • What am I steeping the juice in?
  • Why / how does it alter the flavor of the liquid when vaped? Is it psychosomatic, or does it actually alter the flavor?

Secondably, regarding clearomizer's / cartomizers, I've been using the same clearomizer, an ego C5, for the last 5 days or so. I assume I'm either going to have to change or clean it soon. I do not have any extra wicks for it.
  • Can I re-use the existing wick? If so, what's the best way to clean it? H
  • ow and when do I know I should replace the wick?
  • How often should I dispose of these things?
  • Is there a better reusable clear/cartomizer that I can use w/ an Ego CTwist battery

Thanks!

Steeping is letting the juice age. It blends the flavors together not just mixes them. You take your bottle of juice and put it in a cool dark place for a few days or a couple of weeks shaking it every once in a while. No need to put it in anything. On some juices the flavor comes out more. Sometimes you can re use your wick. take it out run it under hot water. I like to then put it into a small glass of vodka for 24 hours let it dry then reinstall it. You will notice that when the flavor is less and less vapor would be a good time to clean it. If it tastes burnt then it is time to replace it, Just throw the old ones away Yes There is better tanks batteries and drippers and such. That gets into personal preference. I like the areotank on a mvp.

Welcome! the clearo you are using is generally considered disposable. You can flush them out with water, let dry and use a couple more times.

You might want to look around for a Kanger or other style of clearo that can be cleaned, new coils and wicks installed (either purchased or made yourself). I use Kanger ProTank2 Mini's for the stick batteries and Kanger ProTank2 with an Aero base or an Aero tank on my ProVari.

Good luck and enjoy!

Welcome to ECF OP! The CE5 is disposable, but you can reuse it with some cleaning. Many people soak them in alcohol (everclear, 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, etc) and that helps to remove some of the gunk left over from vaporizing the liquids. I liked to dry burn my coils when I was using clearomizers. You can search on Youtube for videos on how to do that. It burns away any gunk leftover on the coil after cleaning.

For a clearomizer with a replaceable coil, I would suggest a bottom coil tank. These are easier to maintain and clean in my opinion. Also, I'd go for a glass one, as some liquids can react with plastic over time, causing it to crack. I think it's mainly citrus flavors and cinnamon that do that, but glass would eliminate any concerns about it. As I moved on from clearos rather quickly, I haven't tried many of the newer ones out there. Here's a list of the ones that would look good on an ego though:

Mini Protank 2 - Replaceable, single coil in the base of the tank. Easy to clean, dry burn and replace when needed. Coils are pretty cheap.

Mini Protank 3 - Dual coils in the base for better flavor and vapor production. Replaceable coils, but a bit more expensive. Harder to clean as well I think. I haven't used this one, but I've used other dual coil clearos before.

Mini Aerotank - Replaceable, bottom dual coils like the Mini Protank 3. The difference is that this one will allow you to control air flow.

Evod 2 - Replaceable bottom dual coils like above. Glass on this one is protected in metal, with windows to see juice level.

Aspire ET-S - Looks kind of like the Evod, but a different company. Read descriptions on this one carefully, as they do have a plastic version as well. I've used this one and the taste was great.
