Hi,

My iTaste SVD keeps reading 0.0 ohms and will not fire. I have tried multiple tanks and its unable to read any of them. Occasionally it will read very low ohms and work for about 2 vapes then back to zero.
I have cleaned the connection areas... tried lifting the little battery thing up a little with tweezers... changed batteries... etc.

Any ideas?

Over tightening tanks, etc. is problem with most batteries, larger VV mods in particular. The Vamo is infamous for having a touchy center pin that can be pushed in too far if something is over tightened, especially if the center pin on the attachment (tank, etc.) is sticking out too far... although I've seen it happen on eGos, Twists and Vision Spinners too.

Sounds like you are already aware of the problem, just need a way of fixing it. If you can get the center pin pried up just a little, and so it's not touching the sides (causing a short) you *might* be able to get by by protecting that pin from future problems by using a cheap 510 adapter. Otherwise you may need to start watching repair videos. Sorry :(

I just started having the same exact problem :(((( Good advice by Oktyabr. I pried the center pin up a little with a small screwdriver then loosed the "beauty ring" cone a little and the tank now works normally and has a snug fit again. There's just this ever so tiny little gap now, at least it produces more airflow :p I wish i had known about the possibility of this happening earlier, I would've been more careful about how tight i had my tanks in. I'm still going to e-mail my seller and innokin about the problem in case there is a better solution. Hope you find a resolution to your problem Lego.

Got this e-mail from my seller. "The grommet sits just below the center pin on the device. No need to remove the 510 connection, just pry up the center pin with a small flat head screwdriver so that it is completely visible. You’ll see a wire soldered to the end of it that connects to the SVD’s chip set. The grommet will be visible at this point. You can remove it by snipping it off. The product you linked me to is exactly what you’ll need, or you could go to a hardware store and find something similar. All you need is a heavier duty grommet to replace the stock one. Just ask a salesperson and they should be able to direct you. Just make sure it will fit. Install the grommet by sliding it over the center pin. A tiny bit of E-Liquid can be used to make it slide more easily, but use very little and make sure to wipe it dry before you push everything back into place so that you don’t get any residual E-Liquid on the electronics of the unit. It’s actually a fairly simple fix, and you should be good to go at that point. Any other questions, please let us know." this is the link i found to a replacement part looking through other forums. 510 Threaded Connector Insulators - Avid Vaper

also just found this VAMO - 9.99 or 0.00 reading all or most of the time? Here's the solution., directions for the same exact problem except on a vamo. I'll probably try it after i get the part sans the soldering part....i'm not messing with that.

You can use that "beauty ring" to help stabilize a tank too. Screw it on just until it makes contact and will fire, then tighten that ring so it snugs up against the bottom of the tank.

Awesome advice. Just grabbed an SVD and love it. I'd be super bummed if anything happened to it and since I hate a loose or wobbly atty I always tighten as much as I can.

I had the same problem with my SVD, the grommet holding the center pin in place became loose and was almost split in two (must be due to over tightening of tanks).

I pried the center pin out a bit and using a slightly bent paper clip i managed to get the old grommet out over the center pin. Then, I took a apart my old itaste vv, took the grommet out from that, lubricated it with a bit of eliquid and managed to slide it over the centre pin on the svd. The hardest part was getting the "new" grommet into the center pin hole. Till today it doesn't seem to sit properly but hey my svd is working again.

I've had over tightening issues in the past. I used to pull out the center connecter with a straightened paper clip. The connector was never as sturdy once it was pushed down. So I learned from my previous mistakes and I make sure only to finger fasten. Might be just a bit loose but it beats always having to toy around with the center pin.

I fully agree piggy but if you look at the stock o-ring on the Vamo you will see it's just a thin cheap silicon and as sure as eggs is eggs it will invariably split causing a short. It maybe prudent to have one or two of varying sizes to hand for when it undoubtedly occurs. I got mine here but I'm sure you'll be able to source them your side of the pond. O Rings NBR 70A
