I would think you would have time if you make sure your order ships from the US warehouse. You should be able to try some and get another order in. Depending on your state, the tax rate might not be that bad but I'm not sure how the shipping rates will be.

    thanks a ton....
I suppose I am accustomed from the last CIGARETTE increase.....
this tax also killed my pipe tobacco purchase's..........thanks alot....

Mississippi has a 15% wholesale tax on snuff (that's what snus would be classified as). That's not bad compared to some of us. I'm guessing (but don't hold me to this) you will be paying no more then 50 cents more a can.

This is a chart with all the state taxes

The PACT act doesn't cover pipe tobacco. That can still be shipped via USPS along with cigars. For now you can still bypass the taxes. Of course... I know that all the good citizens here would never think of trying to get away with not paying their fair share. But there may be some unpatriotic shady characters lurking about for whom that unthinkable thought may enter there corrupted minds.

Far be it from me to point fingers..... but just saying the possibility exist that it may happen.

I just can't see it Stubby. Why would anyone want to cheat their governments out of hard earned taxes that are put in place for our own good...............and while I'm laughing I need to say I don't know how I was even able to type that...........pipe 'baccy, huh?

    pipe 'baccy, huh?

After over a year of being smoke-free I pulled out one of the hand rolled stogies I had stashed away (given to me by a friend whose wife put the boot down). It was good. I'm not about to pay $5 a piece for hand rolled stogies and there's nothing worse then a bad cigar. Got me interested in pipes with TB and OTD (He seems to have disappeared again) getting into them.

It's okay for now. Don't know if I'll stay with it, but for those times when I want to have a real smoke it hits a spot that even snus can't get to. I'll see it I can actually limit myself to a reasonable amount, and I'm still trying to figure out just what a reasonable amount is.

Actually felt kind of.... guilty and conflicted at first.... but screw that. For me there's a quality of life issue that a good bowl of 'baccy gave me that I couldn't find elsewhere. If you can do good without it that would be a good thing indeed. At this point in my life if I die from some smoking related issue it's not likely to be from having an occasional pipe bowl, but from 4 decades of inhaling cigarettes.

How's that for justification... not bad if I do say so myself.

I believe a Pipe not being inhaled is simply a pleasure not a habit.......
Collecting pipes, and hoarding tobacco now hats a habit.....lol

    Rule number one... never inhale.
    Rule number two... enjoy

For now I'm staying with the MM corncobs. Keeps the price way down. Overwhelming choice of tobaccos, but I've found a few that are working for me, with about 890 more to try.

Have any of you tried Dan's Tobacco Blue Note?
I'm staying away from any more aromatics, and especially Virginia based. At this stage that would not be good for the old tongue. I'm leaning very much to the non-flavored blends as I find them the most satisfying, though I do have Lane's 1Q and Scotty's Butternut Burley. Butternut Burley is good, with no tongue bite. I think that eliminates well over half the tobacco types out there.

I've never tried it, but I've heard good things about it. I've been thinking about getting a corncob for a relaxing evening thing when I don't want to pop in a snus before bed.

Any advice on a good beginners pipe tobacco?

Ok you guys can stop with the pipe tobacco talk before I think I have to go buy a pipe and tobacco. At first I wasn't sure about snus and then jumped in with both feet. Then I think I was one of the last ones to try snuff and now use that regularly. The pipe thing is already starting to sound good. Gotta learn to control myself. Right?

Ok Hittman, I won't bring it up again here... This is probably something better discussed by the watercooler... :pervy:
