Got some cartos for my 510 but I am not taking a liking to them. Got that strange vitamin-like taste to them. The draw feels really "loose".
They are the silver threaded ones, Boge I think, with hard caps that do not pop out. Was able to get alot of juice in them but that taste yuck. And the draw feels like sucking air after using carts for 2 weeks.

Noticed a slot on the shaft inside the threaded end. Found that I could turn it like a screw. Was able to screw it "out" to where I start to get that gurgly crackle I get with the carts. Doesn't really seem to be an improvement.

Overall not really thrilled with these. Any suggestions? putting the atty and cart back on.

kj4lxw, I'm sorry you didn't like yours. I don't have much advice as I've only used 2 cartos before, but I do like them. I think I originally got them at Vapor Junction. They did not have a vitamin taste to me, in fact the flavor of the juice when initially filled was great...probably partly because I use my atties too long and a fresh one was great. Also the convenience when I'm out and about.

Your post gave me a question though... and maybe you or someone who reads this will know the answer. You said, "They are the silver threaded ones, Boge I think"

Is there a way to tell different types apart? Say a Boge, from an SLB from an unnamed carto?

Coralie, the Boge have a silver thread, the SLB bronze. If you want to learn all you ever wanted to know about cartos, visit us here:

Burning Cartomisers?...

Go to post #1724 and look at the chart.

I like SLB (horizontal coil). I understand that the new Tru 510 cartos from Vapors Etc are very good. Low resistance (2.4Ω) too, perfect for 510 batteries.

I posted this in a different thread:

I've gone completely to cartomizers now. I've been using the first ones I got well over a month ago and they are still going strong. I've seen some people say they will only last a few days....I'm not sure where they got those, but I bought my soft top empties here: Xpress 510 Cartomizers I have never noticed any weird taste from these unless I let them get a little too dry.

I am not sure if they are made differently or what, but mine show no sign of stopping after weeks of use. I don't let mine run dry either. Pop the top off with a paper clip or something, drip along the sides while rotating (10-12 drops in a new empty), replace top, make sure no juice is coming out the bottom. You're good to go for a while. When the vapor production goes down, or you notice an appreciable change in taste, repeat the above, although it doesn't take as many drops. I also only use American made juice (Halo). No Chinese. I have no idea if that has anything to do with mine lasting so long or not, but there it is. E-Liquid by Halo

Enjoy.

Well I figured I'd experiment and try a few things. Did a couple of 3 second dry burns to try and clear out the Flintstone vitamin smell. After each burn I blew into the mouthpiece in a attempt to help cool it. Did that 3-4 times. It seemed to taste a little better after that.

Can't remember where I read it but tried soaking the end cap in steaming hot water. Had to hold it so that just the end cap itself was in the water.
Well it didn't work, I got frustrated and ended up breaking the cap off. Man it is really glued in tight.

Got a nice view of the insides. The back end of the filler looked dry so I added more juice by just dripping it in from the bottle while rotating the carto. Then I popped a hole in the end of a condom and slipped it over the hole to replace the end cap.

Worked ok, tasted better it seemed. Then I started playing with that threaded end again, guess I just couldn't leave well enough alone. Well, don't know what happened, some how some way the hole through the center got plugged. I know this because I got a mouthful and when I held it up to look through there was no hole, no light at the end of the tunnel.

Got fed up and just tossed it out, kind ticked at all the juice I wasted in it (especially since it was Backwoods Brew), but part of the learning process. What works for some doesn't work for others.

Don't waste the BWB! Put a condom on it and spin it out.

Humm... From all I've read it should have worked. However, as mentioned above, get some soft tops next time.

Good tip.

Turning the screw thing on the battery end of an atomizer or cartomizer is not a good thing. I believe one of the wires to the heating element are attached there. You probably twisted the heating element out of position and eventually broke the wire.

To recover the juice from a cartomizer, do the reverse Taryn spin. That should get the cartomizer almost dry.

Wow looks like I got some responses.
Wish I had known all this before. But at least now I am informed.
But alas, this all occurred in the wee hours of the morning so needless to say it/s all gone. That carto was thrown out even before I posted about it, do wish I had known. Too bad.
As it stands I don't know if I even want to bother with the others I got left.

I got some silver threaded Boge's like you, since they're supposedly the best for 510's. Same issues with taste, though I thought it was more of a filler fiber flavor.

I did the condom fill, taryn spin, and there's 4 of them all filled up and sitting on my desk with the condoms on. Sure, they work fine. I just don't like 'em. They're basically on emergency supplies status now, I'm a dripper at heart.
