I've really been trying to get on this gaping train. I smoke less than a pack a day and have bought the eleaf mini along with the gs16s tank specifically for the mini. I have bought several juices from Vape Wild ITCVAPES Mt Baker Vapor and from my local smoke shops. I recently upgraded to the istick 30w and have kept my eleaf gs16s tank and I'm using it on the 30w. My problem is every time I attempt to vape for the day I wind up weepy coughing up phlegm and heavy chest. I don't understand it. I've done 50/50 juice higher pg juice higher vg juice 100% vg juice...what am I doing wrong?? Anyone with advice please help as I sincerely would like to put down the cancer sticks.

Pushing to power Vape rather than trying to progress into vaping. The Body needs time to acclimate.
More is not better, it is just more.

Give yourself time to adjust to the vape. Don't vape like you smoke - easy longer inhale.
Other things that help in transition are increase nicotine and decrease amount of vaping.
Drink plenty of water - stay hydrated.

Higher VG is popular - more cloud, but heaver in the lungs. stick with one acceptable mix, maybe 50/50

I agree with the above. There will be an adjustment period while your body adapts from smoking to vaping. All that phlegm is your body trying to rid itself of the gunk built up in your lungs from years of smoking.

Vaping is different from smoking, and requires a little different inhale technique. At least initually, do mouth to lung inhales instead of direct lung inhales. This allows the vapor to cool a little before entering your lungs. Arguably, most of the nicotine in vapor is going to be absorbed in the mouth, not the lungs, so the longer it is in your mouth the more nicotine you'll absorb.

So, imagine drawing on a straw from a thick milkshake. Slow easy draws into your mouth. After inhaling into your lungs, exhale through both your mouth and nose. You'll often get more flavor recognition exhaling via your nose.

And drink plenty of water. The Pg and Vg in the vapor are drying to the mucous membranes, and can cause dehydration. Plus, the added water intake will help your body to rid itself of all that phlegm.

I agree with what others said and would add:

When I started vaping after 40+ years smoking, I was used to taking 15 - 18 pulls on a cig in about 5 minutes, then nothing for an hours or so. I quickly found that didn't work for me and I had to slow way down. Take a hit or two when you feel the need, then let it sit until you feel like you need another, for me, that may be 15 minutes or the best part of an hour.

I did the same thing when I started, what they said could certainly be the cause. I had to think of vaping more as smoking a cigar. Take it easy, and that should help.

I also wonder if your voltage/watts are a bit too high. You might want to lower the power a bit and see if that helps.I started off at something like 12-13 Watts on a Nautilus, and have worked my way down to 8-9W. Not intentionally, just because I realize I like it better. Give that a shot too.

we were two pack a day smokers and had that cough and phlegm you're still smoking so there's a lil week or so of transition and smokers crud to clear our Crxess gave you good advice...I always have a water bottle or as Ed teases me a "sippy cup" going at all times

as Sprocket said and same with me..TURN IT DOWN, when I was a new vaper it was rare to go above 3.3 then work your way up the volts/watts. You'll find a sweet spot for each juice and I found I couldn't lung hit if it's over 6mg mix..which we started out at 24mg and I'm on mostly 12mg now 9 1/2 months later.

you might try the mouth to lung method too..lung hitting and adjusting to vapor rather than smoke..led to a lot of coughing and wheezing..but don't give up! You can do it!! :)

Another thing is don't be afraid to take smaller hits. You don't always have to take a mouthful like you see so many others doing. Of a morning I find myself usually taking smaller hits. You also might want to try some of the more menthol flavors. Them and a lot of mints often go down smoother. In particular I recommend Hawk Sauce from Mt. Baker. I have never had issues with hits with it. Though some people I have tried introducing to vaping did find the hits to be a bit much. But of course their not used to such a high powered device. I got an Istick 30w with a Kanger Sub-tank mini. I usually vape at about 18 watts. lol

I found for myself while I was dual using I had this issue, when I wouldn't smoke I didn't. Also because of my breathing issues I found at times I had to take the vapor into my mouth and exhale through the nose without taking it into my lungs, after a while it got easier and I was able to take it into my lungs.
