I need to know how to make it so that I receive notifications whenever I receive a reply to my thread and/or my comments. I looked through the settings and I can't seem to find it.

Right now I only receive notifications when someone likes my comments but not for anything else.

It looks like I can make it so that I receive an email when someone replies to my comment or thread but I want it so that I receive notifications on the website in the little notification drop-down box.

:confused:PLEASE HELP!

You can "subscribe" to any thread and you'll be notified whenever someone replies to the thread itself. As for setting up notifications when someone replies just to something you've posted, that feature does not exist.

Hmmmm, that is strange. I feel that would be one of the most important features of a forum. Without knowing someone has replied to my comment they will never receive a reply back unless I go digging and keep checking every comment I have posted for any replies.

I am having that problem myself. I asked a question in a post a few days ago and assumed I had no responses to it because I didn't recieve a notification saying so. Well today I checked on the post and found numerous people had given me the answer I was looking for. I agree this does seam like an important feature. I did find out though that if I go to my profile, I can click on the link to the post or reply I made and find any other replies that way.

Yeah, I know about how I can go through my post history and directly click a comment or thread I posted to see if I have any replies but it is still annoying. I have to click through every post I have made to different threads to check the status when they could just have a notification to tell me about any replies...

vBulletin doesn't have that option as part of the core software package. And while an add-on may exist that implements this feature, we have to be extremely careful what gets added to the site as major breakage may occur if there are conflicts with what's already been modified and installed.

One only needs to look at the trials and tribulations ECF has gone through over the past month with trying new things.

Cave, try clicking on the "What's New" Tab at the top left, and choosing "My Posts". That should show any thread in which you've posted. If there are new posts, then the thread will be highlighted, with a "Go to First New Posts" blue arrow next to it.

An alternative is subscribing to threads where you may want to see responses. Then you can go to "Settings" at the top right, and any thread to which you're subscribed will be listed.

Hope this helps! :)

Please bear in mind too that the more of these search filters that are added on the more it bogs down the site. While active filters like that might not be an issue for smaller boards, this place is hovering around 1.5 million posts and found a technical reason why it has to close individual threads that hit the 15,000 post mark.
