Greetings from a new vaper from Maine, USA.

My wife is from Nottingham, and at the end of this month (September 2013) we will be heading there to visit her mother. As this will be my first face-to-face contact with my mother-in-law, who sounds delightful on the phone, I'd just as soon not be going through nicotine withdrawal.

With that long-winded intro out of the way, I'll get to the point: Where can I find e-juice and hardware in or around Nottingham?

As a beginner, I've just graduated from pen-style cigalikes to a Kanger protank II sitting on an eGo style battery. I've a fair supply of juice, but with airline restrictions I won't be bringing much with me, and what little I'm intending to carry may be taken away at the airport, despite the best intentions of British Airways and the Boston security apparatus.

All advice is welcome.

Thanks

PS- If there are no local sources for e-liquid, will I be able to purchase disposables or 510 compatible batteries and cartomizers at local shops? Sorry for my extreme ignorance, but last time I was in Nottingham I was smoking tobacco, so never noticed what else was available.

Chrissie,

Many thanks for the prompt and helpful reply. I'll have a look at both links.

I won't be ordering from any UK online vendors for delivery to my mother-in-law's home, as she is quite up in years, and I don't want to
trouble her with my...errr...ummm... habits. That said, if there are one or two vendors you might recommend, that would be great.

Thanks again.

Thank you again, Chrissie. I found the first link—the map one—a little frustrating, as each and every one of the maps couldn't be displayed...something about two large. I zoomed out as much as possible, but no luck. Probably one of the many layers of security in my browser. I did use the list on the left side, to good effect. In short, it was helpful.

The second link was wonderful...I looked at quite a few of the sites, and the choices are more than ample.

I'll give Vape Escape a try when I arrive.

I really appreciate all the good help.

On a completely off-topic note, is your avatar a Maine .... cat? Sure looks like one of our barn dwellers. I didn't think they were known beyond this rural corner of nowhere.

Thanks to your links, I found a B&M very close to where I'll be. They offer a brand of e-liquid called VIP. I'm not hunting for anything extraordinary---just a satisfactory nicotine maintenance supply for a week or so. Any thoughts on that brand would be of help. Would I be better off getting something of better quality from Vape Escape? I'm quite new to all of this, and my taste buds are somewhere between primitive (I have tried a few unpalatable e-juices) and basic.

Really sorry that the link to the map of UK B&M shops didn't work well for you GranFumador :(

And yes, Kiki, my Avatar pic, is indeed a Maine .... :D I have 7 Maine Coons - mainly re-homes to me. I think they are the most wonderful cats in the world

The VIP e-liquid will no doubt be over priced (their e-cigs are) & fairly mediocre. So yes, far better quality from Vape escape - their Grizwald juices especially.

Also have a look at Joose-juice, they do a BOGOF on all of their 30ml bottles (no code needed) but you can also use the code AAEC12 for 12% off. Again, very quick with dispatch, but do allow an extra day for them to arrive just to be on the safe side -

Flavoured E-Liquids - Items - Joose Juice E-Liquids

If you're looking for UK suppliers. As well as vape escape I'd recommend vaplogy :

E-liquid / Eliquid, Electronic Cigarettes & Vaporizers | Vapology

I've had a few juices from them recently. The best thing is you can customize your order with extra flavour shots and make tailor made flavours. Their cappuccino is so good, I ordered another 50ml after I vaped the first 10ml in 2 days.

Also, I'm hearing good reports of vapists juices :

Vapist

Not tried them myself yet, but I will be doing soon.

As Chrissie says though, vape escape are a top vendor. Great set of people, I've been to their shop myself - bit of a trek from Nottingham to Heywood though ;)

Again, and again... Thank you Chrissie. I used to moderate an academic forum, where off-topic posts got deleted (by me). It's nice to know that things are a bit less strict here, and we can share our mutual affection for the most wonderful cats in the world. Mine was a rescue, found declawed and starving in the barn in winter...which is damned cold here. She gained half a stone in the first month, which gives you an idea how skinny she was when I found her. She got on wonderfully with my 130lb Chesapeake Bay Retriever and is much missed.

Back to the matter at hand... the advice is gratefully received. I'll order some Grizwald juice and if I run out of that I'll try Joose-juice.

Thanks as well to you, trouble1000. I like strong, sour citrus flavors [flavours] and dark tabacco, so if Vapology does those, I'll try some. It will be a short trip, so I may not taste them until I'm back on this side of the puddle.

I really appreciate you folks guiding me. The Nottingham accent is intimidating enough for a Mainer, and having to find good e-juice at the same time as communicating with the lovely people there would have been beyond my limited capabilities.

You're welcome, hope you enjoy your holiday.

If communication is a problem, just do what us Brits do when we go abroad - talk very loud, everyone will understand you then

Thanks for the good wishes, trouble1000. I've just about mastered, after 7 years of practice, that staple of Nottingham colloquial speech:

"Eeiupp m'duck!"

Except that the vowels are so different from what I'm accustomed to, and I sound like a Yank trying to imitate an Aussie doing his best to pass for a Brit. And that's on a good day. If I were to talk very loud, expecting everyone to understand me, I could be a replica of many of my compatriots as they behave in Brasil and Paraguay. I might just try Portuguese if I can't get by with "murkin" English. That sometimes works in France.

Ahhh, the wonders of the East Midlands glottal stop. It's enough to make a grown man cry.

Just got some nice sour apple e-juice. That will be my consolation.

Hello again Chrissie,

This will be a quick trip to visit an elderly relative, but when we have time to explore more, Cornwall will be on the list. My wife has spoken of getting to know parts of the U.K. she hasn't visited, and Cornwall got a positive mention.

Back to vaping, if that's allowed here... I am among the early adopters of this fine passtime in our village, population ~40. The neighboring town, with about 1200 year round inhabitants, is without other known vapers, so far. Lots of people have stopped me on the street, and in stores, to ask what it is. "It" being either a cigalike or, more recently, an eGo with a Kanger II perched on top. When I explain, and they smell the lemon, or apple, or dark tobacco vapor, they are intrigued. One acquaintance, a lobsterman, was excited at the idea of being able to "smoke" regardless of weather, of which we have a lot, mostly nasty from November to May. Can you imagine what e-cigs could do to the image of the rugged fisherman, hauling his traps in a storm, with a little blue light and a cloud of vapor in front of his broad smile?

GranFumador if you & your good lady do come back & visit Cornwall, give me a shout :)

Talking of accents, I'm originally from Yorkshire, moved to Sussex in my early 20's then down to Cornwall 12 years ago - so nobody anywhere can completely understand me ;) :D

As for your Lobsterman, maybe his image would be fine with something like this? -

Or this, but with a black Nova instead of a purple one ;) :D

It's amazing the difference in dialect from one area of the UK to another, we're only a small island after all :D

To give you an example I live in Rochdale and call a bus "a bus". I work in Oldham, just ten miles away, they call a bus "a buzz". Really amuses me that.

You have it easy. Bus in Spain is bus (pronounced boose, as in caboose or loose) or autobus. In Argentina its colectivo, in Cuba they call it a guagua (sort of like gwah gwah) and ... I better quit now before I get confused. Here on the coast, the accents also change every ten miles or so, and some of them are harder for me, a native born Yank, to understand than the Nottingham accent. We get lots of summer tourists from southern states, and watching them try to communicate with the locals is a hoot. We all supposedly speak the same language, but... My mother-in-law speaks RP with me on the phone, then she switches to an East Midlands dialect when talking with my wife.

Buzz for bus? That would confuse me for sure.
